Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?
I have no doubt Joker has sold more than any other HT product.

HT is putting out Darth Vader, Hellboy and Soldier Ape each for 149.99, you only have $150, which are you getting?
If Hot Toys is able to sell Dark Knight and Iron Man stuff at the current prices, holding the economy constant, I guarantee that Star Wars of similar quality would sell even better. Its not that every Star Wars collector will buy them, but there are so many Star Wars collectors that there are a larger chunk who can/will buy then there are for other lines.
Without published edition sizes, we can only speculate that. 5000 SSC SW figures at $90 ammounts to $450,000.
5000 HT Dark Knights at $150 ammounts to $750,000.
That's basically 2/3 the money for one SSC to one HT, so depending on exact figures, HT may do better with less figures. We just can't tell, they never tell you the edition sizes.
I think it's safe to say that though that HT's edition sizes aren't nearly as big as Sideshow's.
What is the basis for that belief?
I'm not just talking Joker. Jack Sparrow had multiple production runs, the Endoskeleton, TDK Suit Batman, I believe Begins Batman, Rambo 3 I think had multiples and these are just HT lines I follow.
I'd say HT's edition sizes would be more than most SS figures at this point. Due to the fact that SS likes to make the "bit players" where HT's stick's with the big sellers! Indy, Obi, and the Stormtroopers are the only big names SS has done lately that I can see having big edition sizes.
I'm confident Hot Toys could bring Lucasfilm more money than Medicom.
My point wasn't to compare the licenses, but the situations. Fanboys clamoring, drooling and begging for HT to pick up a license then bailing on it due to pricing. Anyone with half an IQ could see that the severe price hike would narrow the market, Star Wars or not.
So let's be fair then and stick to the ES's of the main players here since HT would never delve deep enough into a line to make an Admiral Piett or a Kit Fisto.
When did they start clamoring though. A couple years ago you could expect and HT figure for $100-$120. If the desire starts at one price point and HT delivers during another price point, it doesn't devalue the seriousness of those looking for it to happen, just means bad timing.
If HT started a line today, anyone clamoring for it would get it at the prices they expected.
Fair enough, with that said I believe they would be very comparable then.

Best way to compare is to compare apples to apples. Back to Hell Boy and Planet of the Apes.
Because the HB fans expected to pay $150 for their Reds and Abes. No, it means that many people think this way without really considering the bigger picture, shorter runs, A-listers only, higher price points (almost double), severely incomplete lines (like maybe 10 from each move IF that), etc...
You assume the mindset of these people. It is quite possible they expected a certain price when they wanted it and when they got it, it was out of their price range. Plus, maybe only one property they cared about was being made when they started clamoring and now multiples are. Lot of reasons can affect people wanting something one minute and changing their minds later besides just talking out their ass.
I support the idea of some HT Star Wars figures right now at current HT prices, but if by the time we got them they were $200-$250 each, I'd pass on pretty much every figure. At that price, I'd MAYBE get a Maul if done and that's about it.
Things change. Basically, I don't think you can judge how demand leads to sales unless you deal within a short time frame. HT Joker's an example. People wanted better, within a year, HT's offering better, and the sales will meet the demand to some extent, other factors about HT will play into no-sales, but it balances out. Apes fans and HB fans probably wanted HT to pick those up for years, lots can happen in a few years, especially at HT's rate of growth.
I really hope SSC gets the Rambo license.
I'll give you TDK with a big MAYBE and that's still questionable comparing Star Wars collectors to Batman collectors. One is a million dollar franchise, the other a billion.
Anything beyond HT's TDK line though, no.
