They look very good. In these photos the helmets are heavily reminiscent of the Marmit stormtrooper helmet ('hero' version); Marmit had two versions ('stunt' for sandtroopers, 'hero' for stormtroopers) and to my eyes (and several on this board) they were the most accurate 1/6 sculpts ever made.

Maybe due to there having been more of them and getting more screen time, I'm actually partial to the stunt.

As for these HT troopers...in terms of accuracy, these look a touch idealized and symmetrical, and similar to the Marmit they might have missed the lower helmet proportions by a hair...but there is nothing shown so far that would prevent me from picking up a set.

What's also nice is that for those who want to troop build, these won't actually look glaringly out of place with a well-customized Marmit in the background.

I will most likely pick up a set of two and one single. As ANH is burned into my nerd brain I can think of a few instances of the short trooper:

1. The commander on Tantive IV "The Death Star plans are not in the..."

2. The commander talking to the scanning crew before leaving in the DS hangar. "All right, let's go."

3. The short trooper standing at attention in the hangar (from the famous group photo).

4. Maybe (can't remember exactly) one of the pair by the tractor beam. "Think it's another drill?" or whatever he said.

(On a side note, I'm not going to worry about my Marmit sandtroopers becoming obsolete because anything Hot Toys may produce should look fine beside them, and we don't know yet what kind of a treatment a sandtrooper helmet sculpt would receive from HT.)

Two years ago I started hunting for the perfect stormtrooper; it looks like this is as good as it gets. Timing's not bad.

Can't stop looking at the official images of these. They look fantastic.

One think that stood out to me from the press release was the phrase "we are moving the spotlight to the Galactic Empire for this new wave". Do the Stormies count as a 'wave' or should we expect Vader to follow?

If the 2 pack is over $350, which it probably will be, I'm probably only in for a single trooper. With other figures on the horizon and who knows what else with this line, I can't throw that money on two troopers.

I couldn't say one way or the other, but can any SW fanatic comment on the proportions of these Stormies, maybe vis-à-vis their SSC counterparts?

I remember earlier in the thread, after these first debuted at the VIP event at SB, there was some concern about proportions, which were chalked up to lens distortion.

These look pretty dawn awesome to my layman's eyes, but are these the best Stormtrooper figures ever made?

Overall from head to toe, the Hot Toys looks like the best one. Though, looking at the Marmit kit, that one looks like it has a better torso section and head. You had to assemble that **** however.

Disney Collectibles have made the best Stormtrooper headsculpt though. To bad it's a tad bigger than 1/6 though (the figure is 13 inches).

They've already counted two figures as a wave (Hank and Chewie), so now we have two more… I'd completely disregard the word "wave" - it obviously has a completely different definition in Hong Kong. ;)

Very nice! I'm glad HT is really getting a move on with the SW line. Pretty much no interest in them since I'm perfectly happy with the Sideshow version. But I'm eager to see them all side by side when they come out. I'd love for someone to do a comparison shot between HT, Sideshow and Marmit and point out the differences between the three and against the props.

No, really! I'm not kidding!

I guess I agree - but these HT versions are still great.
