This is far and above in the top 5, maybe 3 most terrible head sculpts by hot toys ever made. It?s just a massive fail all around.

Likeness being totally non existent aside I truly hate the windswept hair choice. Not only because it?s too specific but because it?s the wrong kind of haircut to do that with and it ends up looking just off and goofy which does nothing to help the already non existent likeness

Now I didn?t love the last Jedi either, no one did, but I did actually like the portrayal of Luke and the whole force projection thing was my favorite part of that deeply troublesome film. I was really looking forward to this but am
Utterly shocked to see how bad the ball was dropped.

I attempted to resculpt the hair but I stopped half way through. This hair is so off is pretty much have to start from scratch to get it there. What I did do though is enhance the likeness by paint.

I?m the only person I?ve heard repeating this often and it baffles me how little known it is that eyebrows are one of the key element that can make or break a likeness in paint. Probably the most important. I was shocked at just his off these were. Other than that I accentuated some key features and put a bit of gray in the hair and beard.

It?s better but still very not so good.View attachment 470497

This post kinda has me rethinking getting this fig (won't ship for another month at least.) I want the head on the right.:lol Awesome work Raymond.:clap

Especially for such a bare-bones, simple outfit release release where the headsculpt is like 3/4 of the "value" of the fig. A Han Stormie you can sort of rely on the stormtrooper suit and a hermit Luke you've got a pretty complex outfit/accessories to balance out a potentially lackluster headsculpt.

Received mine today and I think he looks great. It's kind of a basic figure, but it does what it needs to do. The hair does seem a bit too dark and uniformly brown in hand though, so I'll probably vary it up some more. As well as fill in some of his wrinkles and weather the belt.

A few quick shots:

Really great first pose. I think I'll steal it.

I received this this weekend. It's definitely a pretty basic figure, no ROTJ Luke, but I just love the look. The robe has a nice surprising texture and I'm really into the very simple, refined style of the outfit.

I swapped the blue saber for the extra green one from my ROTJ Luke as I'm going for the Jedi Master look, not specifically the Crait illusion, and I'm pretty happy with it. The headsculpt and hair make me a little sad, but what can you do. It looks a little better than the pre order photos, anyway.

Agreed. If anything I thought the sculpt on the proto looked even softer. There seems to be more detail now, even if you really have to get up close to see it. Lol
I think to light/post on the promo photos washed some of the detail out. Still isn't a great likeness, but it's better.

Here's my attempt to age him up a bit. I tried to keep it fairly subtle with just a hint of gray, but not sure if I found the right balance or not.

I also darkened and weathered up the belt, but probably went a bit overboard so I'll need to dial that back some more.

Nice work, DaveJames! A definite improvement.

By any chance, could someone please post a pic of the figure without the robe? Curious to see how looks without it. Thanks.

My Luke Crait (oh boy that's a bad pun) arrived today and I gotta say I really dig this figure. There is something about the simplicity that gives it so much more presence and it really feels like the older Jedi Master Luke we would all like to have seen more of. Normally barebones figures irk me somewhat but I'm not sure what I would have added to this set that would have been an improvement. Perhaps swap out hair for a more neutral look.

As far as the sculpt goes, when the proto shots came out I was underwhelmed. Some of the in hand shots have been good but some have been terrible. In hand, I like it. Sure the hair and beard could use some more grey (good work davejames), but I am happy with what I got.

This figure may be as polarising as the movie, but I've come down on the love it side.

Some quick minimal futzing shots (a bit soft sorry). I'm like this pose. It has so much attitude and confidence.

The hands look much better proportioned in real life than in images.

Thanks all. I appreciate your comments. I've had the figure on my entertainment unit since I got it because I just enjoy seeing it too much to add to my display space just yet.

Agreed. I need to know what kind of lighting setup he's got, because I always have the hardest time lighting my stuff properly for pics.

Would you believe those shots are the figure on top of a 1x1 besta unit next to a window. So all natural light. It's in my lounge room and my quarter scale Boba lives on it (inside are my Nolanverse Batman figures). But I move him to take new figure shots. White base with white wall behind and a window (in the morning light) work great.

I love this figure. Got him while the board was down, so I couldn't post my couple of pics. the outfit and poses just makes it for me. I know not everyone loves the head sculpt, but I think it captures this look well enough and he looks amazing on the shelf. And yes, I do have him the "dusting off his shoulder" pose on the shelf. He looks badass, and the hood and outfit hang so well.
