Well Swedish, look at their spoon teaser. The Matrix was synonymous with spoon and Hot Toys ended up pulling an obscure Anime fiend out of their ass.

Well, if Hot Toys already HAD the Matrix license, why would they "announce" it again??

The point is, they said "The Force Is Strong With Us" and people are saying "It might not even be Star Wars". . . and that's just a person trying to hedge their bets just so they can say "I told you so" in the next to nothing chance that it's not Star Wars. It's being argumentative just for the sake of starting up trouble.

They probably got the chance to do DX Star Wars figures. Anyone who thinks they now possess the leased rights from Hasbro that Sideshow was using, is probably wrong.

Probably.

Dude, the whole marketing thing gets complicated. Lucas holds the license, then gives the toy rights to Hasbro, who in turn, sublets the 1:6 scale license to Sideshow, who in their own turn, works in conjunction with Hot Toys.....

WHAT THE................?

Oh I agree with you. "FORCE" in any context IS Star Wars. I was just saying, it wouldn't surprise me if their "reveal" is completely obscure and nothing like what people are expecting.

I'd be curious if the Ultimate Unison team up was the impetus for this collaboration. Hot Toys has been wanting to work on Star Wars for a long time now, and I'd bet Sideshow has been more than willing to get their input, but Hot Toys was limited in their contributions because of the agreement between LFL and Medicom. Then, Medicom goes and teams up with Enterbay, which isn't fair to Sideshow and Hot Toys. So, a few conference calls later, now Sideshow and Hot Toys can officially team up and make some sweet stuff.

Which is funny, because I had no idea about the connection with Matrix and "the Spoon" until someone on this forum posted a video link about it. Guess it wasn't that memorable for me. If it was supposed to be a Matrix tease, I would have expected something more along the lines of a reference to bullet time or maybe even follow the white rabbit (which would be confused with Alice in Wonderland, I'm sure) or the truly iconic Red Pill/Blue Pill.

Then again, I wasn't a fan of The Matrix.

According to Toys2 Star Wars is pretty much set in stone just none knows what they will be spinning out. As Swedish was saying, Howard is suppose to be a huge SW fan and has been eyeing a SW opportunity since day one.
From SS point of view there is no loss here at all. Bringing in HT with better quality is just the excuse they needed to rerelease a lot of the characters and that with a nice little price increase. And us as fans are not going to complain either. I guess I will reconsider if I should spend money on repaints of my SS SW now

I could really see this helping Sideshow. A Hot Toys announcement of a DX Jedi Luke would probably quicken the sellout of SSC's remaining Emperor Palpatines that are still in stock, for instance.

I think Sideshow is doing the background alien characters like Greedo and Hammerhead really well, but I believe Hot Toys' sculpting and painting style will be very beneficial for putting out perfect versions of the human characters like Luke and Han.

Or people just wait for the HT version. If these aren't part of Sideshow's line, I could see this really backfiring on Sideshow where their own SW figures aren't selling because people would rather wait for the HT version. They need to keep HT on aliens, robots, and other characters SS hasn't tackled yet.

it'll probably be SW cosbabies or something. then everyone will clear out of this thread. it will be like that episode of South Park where everybody is waiting in line for a haunted house. then somebody says "wait a minute. this isn't a whore house. it's a hor-ror house." then everybody whines and leaves.

Maybe they're just making more chubbies.:lol

So far, most Cosbaby lines have co-existed with 12" figure lines. So even if it is just a Cosbaby announcement, there is hope and speculation to be maintained!

I doubt many people would wait for a Hot Toys Admiral Piett. And for all intents and purposes, Sideshow's figures aren't selling very well right now to begin with. This line needs another shot in the arm like it did with the Jabba set up. That announcement kicked off the era in which ended the endless line of Jedi. Right now, we're in this lull where we keep waiting for fan requests like Tarkin and Dooku, but we keep getting background characters with expensive polystone diorama pieces.

I think the previous guesses are right. I think Hot Toys will be doing DX re-dos. Jedi Luke, DX Han (this one gets me excited, one ultimate Han, brown pants/black pants, blue jacket, black vest, THE FINGER). How cool would a DX Han Solo be, following up the DX Indy??

I really think this might be the solution to everyone's problems. Sideshow can keep producing their polystone environments, lower-priced background figures, and Hot Toys can come back in and re-work the heavy hitters.

There is no anti-HT sentiment here.

None at all. Like back in the day its more about disrespectful fans who want to be douches towards others.
---------------------------------

I give it being a HT own SW line at about 5-10%. SW is one of the biggest licenses out there and if they had finally gotten their "own" line they'd have had a full page ad along with the Indiana Jones one. As I've said before it will more likely be we're taking over doing figures like Chewie, Droids, and Grevious. Plus I'm sure others as this line goes on.

Great news!

I don't see them doing as many characters as Sideshow. If they just do a handful of characters, it shouldn't be a major incursion on Sideshow's operation. Jedi Luke is ripe for a do-over in 1/6 and Chewbacca is just due, period. Hope they don't spread themselves out too thin this year!

I really do hope this is just a compliment line. Stuff SS knows they just can't do, like Chewie. HT will find a way to do it and keep the quality through production, something Sideshow struggles with. But a few select core characters re-done wouldn't be the end of the world. I just don't want two compeating SW lines in 1:6 scale. Medi doesn't count :lol

Yeah I am sure SS is not going to be stupid and jeopardize their own products but considering that most SS figures I got just recently were released years ago and are still available at low prices getting HT to fire up this line for them and getting a sweet cut out of it just makes sense. That UU luke is just asking to be beaten down by HT and it's not like HT doesn't like to compete
