i see chewy being a furred head, hands, possibly feet with the rest being a furred suit.................come on ssc/ht co.fab..............git-r-dun..........:lecture

I believe the armor is ABS plastic. It shouldn't turn yellow without some serious neglect.

Considering that Hot Toys was instrumental in assisting Sideshow with the stormtrooper armor (their logo is even on the box) it's basically a Hot Toys stormtrooper. Switch it to a true-type and you've got it. I'm sure their method of armor attachment would be a bit different from Sideshow's, but I can't imagine much difference between the two beyond that. Awesome figure either way.
The armor is white ABS plastic, Further painted white. it shouldn't turn yellow, ever.

Not just the armor, but also the bodies were designed in conjunction with hot toys. The storm trooper even has a hot toys logo on the box.

It IS a hot toys stormtrooper already.

same thing with vader's body.

True but I don't need $150-$200 background characters. Let Sideshow do those and hopefully HT sticks to the big guns.

Do we even need $150-$200 main characters? Yes we'll get better sculpts and paint jobs, but not sure anything else on any of those figures could be made better. Its not like many SW figures have complex outfits and accessories.

Again, I'll say if HT took their attention to detail and make the tougher HOTH figures than I can see paying higher prices, but $150 for ANH Luke, Leia or Han would be absurd, IMO.

I'm sure the outfits would also be of a higher quality than what we've seen previously, but essentially you are right. The draw of Hot Toys Star Wars figures would be, primarily, better sculpts (though Sideshow's sculpts are sometimes very good, only hidden by cruddy paint work), much better paint work, and better bodies. But that makes a huge difference and is well worth paying a premium for, IMO.

I am ready to pay $150 for a great Luke in flightgear from HT. I was already determined to take my $80 Luke and have it Sebified for $50 or more to take it to the next level but hey a $200 DX Luke with two heads and outfits would make me even happier ;)
And yes unless I misunderstood him Eric seem to be under the impression that HT is going to get to dabble in the Star Wars universe directly next year.....May the Force be with our wallets

To those complaining over HT doing Star Wars figure, I offer a very simple solution; Dont buy them.

There are many of us excited over the prospects of Hot Toys + Star Wars, If you feel it is not needed, than be happy in the knowledge that you will be saving money. Unless, that is, you think you cannot help yourself, and will feel compelled to buy a figure you do not want. To those I suggest you seek professional help.

oh I won't be buying them if I can't afford them, but if HT getting the license means an end or severe drop off from SSC doing more "affordable" (though we left that behind long ago for me) then I think you'll see a lot of complaining and disappointment.

With Sideshow figures starting to cost $115+ on a regular basis, any semblance of affordability really seems to have gone out the window.

Amen brother! That is where I am at. I have no doubt that HT will do a great job on SW. But I am guessing that they will cost more than I am willing to spend. And even if they are reasonably priced for me, I could not display them with my SS ones. I am just retentive that way. It is just like my not being willing to display Medicom Star Wars figures with my SS ones.

Surely that can only be because of the scale issue? I'd have happily posed my medicom stormie next to SS Vader if he didn't look like a kid playing at dress-ups.

Hot Toys = awesome. Maybe the time will come when something they touch doesn't turn to awesomeness, but I think they'll do the same top notch job on SW that they on every other license.

They're all out of their minds if they think we'll pay more for a 1:6 figure than for a 1:4 premium format statue.

Those of you who would are as out of your minds as they would have to be.

No. They simply don't match to me. I have actually been a rare supporter of the difference in the size for some of the figures. Jango Fett is made screen accurate with his shorter height as are a few others. But to me, it is like paintings from two different artists. I see a difference in the style of the making of the figures from the different companies and I just don't like that I can see that when they are side-by-side. Now, if the price is reasonable, I might backpedal and get them to display on a different shelf as a separate collection. But you would not see a HT Clonetrooper next to a SS one on my shelf. The closest I came to that was taking a few shots of Obi-Clone with the Medicom Phase I Clonetroopers, Commander, and Captain. And though I like the picture...the difference between the Medicom and Sideshow figures stands out to me.

And as I mentioned before...I have no doubt that HT will make great SW figures.

Ya know I've said the same thing about folks with SS stuff over the years. There are certain folks here who have told me I'm this or that because of this same statement.

I don't think there is much of the anti HT sentiment going on as you're trying to make it out. If this turns out to be a full line I'll be excited as HT makes some of the best 1:6th figures out there. Though, I do have a soft spot for SS stuff as I think they're pretty darn good and still fairly affordable. I love SW and awesome figures as a fan is always good to see. Taking the attitude of sorry you're screwed but too bad isn't the most friendly by the way.
