I might try buying one as well and put a Sideshow stormtrooper armor on it to see how it looks like. Something like this:

I am now ^^^^ing pissed with hot toys.... Just came back from TS screening.....Definitely there is NO T700 or what so kinda crap ( as many have said before) No mentioning....no scenes (only T800s and arnold's T800 endo in this movie is also a chromed one)..... not a damm ^^^^ing appearance by the so call "foot soldiers of skynet". What the ^^^^!!!!!!!!

Is Hot Toys trying to squeeze us of our cash by re-releasing T800 endo under another name? How outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hot toys...... for this move u made........................ U SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I'll be cancelling my PO for the "foot soldiers". I think.....it is not worth it if a "movie master piece" is not even in the movie it is said to be. DAMM IT:banghead

So you didn't see this terminator model in the movie:

Because this is a T-700 ( textured endoskeleton) and not a T-800 (chromed endoskeleton) !

This is how I will justify T-700's existence in Terminator Salvation:

T-600
Old outdated model, no more production. Remaining units will be sent to patrol ruined cities.

T-700
Currently in production as seen in the terminator factory. No completed units have been deployed yet. The design of the T-700 is basically the same as the T-800 except they are unable to sustain an organic covering and their construction is inferior, as shown by their rough cast metal.

T-800
Arnold 101 model (seen in last part of the film) is the first T-800 made. He was created much earlier than planned production with the sole purpose of killing John Connor. Besides the ability to sustain an organic covering, they are stronger and more durable than the T-700, as shown by their polished forged metal.

Basically, IMO all the endoskeletons shown in the terminator factory are T-700's. You can see the texturing on the endo skulls. "Arnold" is the prototype T-800 that was completed much earlier with the sole purpose of killing John Connor.

i like that....

as said before multiple times, no mention of the 700 in the film whatsoever. they are called 800's by conner himself. however.....if they are 800's maybe they're the mass produced yet less refined field models seen in 2029 LA. the other 800's with model #'s are more refined and built especially for flesh coverings and infiltration missions. better ai, etc...

or maybe bale improvised or misspoke on camera and called the 700's 800's and mcg ran with it.

HT obviously made these when the production team was calling them 700's.

after seeing the flick, i think they were 700's and someone dropped the ball with the script. i think arnie was the first 800, and marcus may have been the elusive t-rip despite it's linkage to the 800 model.
after all marcus was the ultimate infiltrator, he didn't even know he was one

or maybe the toy companies invented the 700 moniker for us completionists out there to buy a slightly varied 800
just tossin round ideas...

Exactly how would a metal endoskeleton sustain a flesh covering anyway? How does it stay attached? How is it kept alive? How does it move realistically and not crumple up or get massively bruised with every movement of the underlying metal? Why doesn't the weight of the endoskeleton cause the flesh on the feet to bruise and rot off? I just can't see it ever being possible.

And if anything wouldn't a grainier surface such as on the "T-700" be more suitable for flesh to 'grab on to' than the smooth chrome of an 800?

You're questioning that in a series where time travel is involved?

I very confident that the Hot Toys "T700" actually did make an appearance in the film. Here's why:

The "T700" HT toy design was highly likely to be based off pictures of the battle damaged T800 featured in the end of the film. The crusty look on the HT T700 appears to resemble damage from the burns and freezing of the T800 in the final battle. Also notice the T800 had no weapons during its battled with Connor which explains the foot soldier advertising for the HT T700 and that is why no weapon is included with the toy.

Based on those things it leads me to conclude the HT T700 is actually the Battle Damaged Arnie T800 featured in the end of the film.

Shame on you Hot Toys! This is how you make a Terminator figure :

it look like in the movie that the skin, veins, pseudo-muscle, tendons, eyball gel, etc. was grown over the endo over the course of about 60 days.
when connor hacked the skynet vla in the opening raid, the little animation on the screen had a status bar and showed a simple rendition of the 800 skin developing over an endo with a status bar that had time in days under it.
think of algae slowly covering over an object that's submerged in dirty water. also human bone is pretty smooth. i had one sticking out of me at an odd angle once.:horror the infiltrators probably have tendon like tissue that is able to stick to the metal. also think of all the negative space on an endo. the stuff that grows might also wrap into those spots adding extra "grip". as for the feet, skin on the bottom is very thick and robust. it can callous to leather like conditions, mine are like baseball skin from the army. endos probably weigh in at 3-4 hundred lbs. i see guys like that all the time :horror walking on feet just fine. also the high regenerative properties of endo skin probably enable areas under stress to heal.

Actually, the Terminators hanging around in the factory had the rough texture.

Yet the T-800 that fought John was chrome and smooth. It's really confusing. It's hard to tell if the ones in the factory are T-700 or really T-800's.

Maybe we could ask somehow.

I like both of your answers.

:lol So parents were okay with a toy that made naked Schwarzeneggers :lol

i have to respectfully disagree, neat idea though.

compare these images...

first: factory t-700 (called 800 by connor) grab from a trailer, notice the pitted metal texture
second: HT t-700

i agree that the ht 700 and the remains of the 800 look similar,
but the 800 had drooping heat deformities and extra metal crunchy bits after it's spa treatment
