It's not the same head sculpt i.e. minor differences due to the production process. And the funny part is, it's not the first time HT has changed something (good or bad, whatever the opinion) between releasing the prototype pics and the finished product. They actually do it A LOT. So not sure why people are surprised by it.

Yeah, I can't really see anything that can't be accounted for by casting detail loss, cheaper plastic, and less detailed paint; basically the typical result of production.

I do agree that HT does a fair share of tweaking, sometimes completely resculpting, between the proto reveal and the final product, but I don't see that here unless the changes were very subtle.

That PIC from On.CC is a final sculpt with proto paint(tester).Like Devil wrote there's always a difference because the artist paints the proto but the final is done by the factory.I'm surprised that they can achieve the paint apps at a mass produced level!Personally,i don't like the new BW sculpt it reminds me of someone who got botox and went to a tanning salon afterward but CONGRATS to those who like it!^_^I can't wait for this figure! What do you guyz think will this be the last to be released or is he next?

whether bale face is well sculpted or not , i dont care as i will display mine only with the cowl because this one fourth scale batman..So i dont find it necessary for me to bother here

From what I saw of the face sculpt the paint could be better but it looks like the best sculpt yet of Bale. Now the Cowl sculpts go to enter bay hands down.

So which is it in your opinion, minor differences due to the production process, or intentional changes?

Yeah, I'm still in that camp.

Although the proto is objectively better (as is usually the case), it's still great.

Minor differences due to the production process.

If you look at this pic (Production piece):

And this pic of the Prototype:

They look pretty much the same to me minus the paint apps (especially the detail in the eyes).

Sometimes the only difference is paint apps (hand painted proto vs. factory production line) which has nothing to do with the sculpt changing at all. Sometimes HT changes things intentionally with the sculpt (minor and sometimes even major). And sometimes it's the production process that changes things (like their Berserker Predator losing about an inch of height).

So technically it's "not the same" because ANY differences in the sculpt (regardless of the reason) by definition means the two can't be considered the same.

I agree with most of that. And using those semantics, I would say that in all cases, Hot Toys production sculpts are "not the same" as prototype sculpts.

I think it would be pretty rare for it to truly only be a difference in paint apps. Nearly all sculpts "soften" after casting.

:goodpost:

That should be the end of the debate, but it won't be.

It won't end because you are trying to persuade people that there are no changes at all, you are not respecting anyone's opinon. Whereas, I think the sculpt looks deformed compared to the proto pic, but that is just my opinion and I am trying to force people think otherwise. The fact is the dam thing looks different to what we were promised. I am thinking of getting this repainted to see if it just the PJ that accounts for this big difference.

I have two of them, and neither is cross eyed.

Could you elaborate on your "deformed" theory? How did that happen exactly?

I have two of them as well, so what is the point in bringing up that up? I don't know about cross eyed but cocked eyed, he just looks like a dam zombie. About the deformed theory IDK the face looks shorter or squashed more, it just looks ugly IMO.

You really don't see the way it's a shadow creating the apperance of an open mouth?

No not in that lighting, Frank was saying the dark lighting was what is creating the shadow, so I showed a pic of the sculpt in bright lighting, which appears to me that the mouth is more open than the proto pic.

I'm happy. :)

As long as you are, I guess that's all that matters then right? If someone showed me that pic and asked me to guess who it was I would have no idea. Then again likeness is subjective, so I am not saying it looks nothing like Bale but I personally can't see any likeness.

Reposting this to get it on the same page:

If anything, the face in the top picture looks longer. Wonder if there is some lens distortion.

So now you are admitting the face does look different? :huh

You are right it possibly could be Len's distortion but the fact is it looks different.

That just goes to show we all see things differently because the differences do not look subtle to me.

Ok my last comment about the DX12 on this thread...

How on earth did Hot Toys make his eyes the opposite of what they are in TDKR on the Batman sculpt?

I am now done talking about DX12.

They need to update the PERS. Even if it means only being able to move the eyes right and left.
