I appreciate that you tried, but no it doesn't look the same. The paint job is different and as Darkavatar said it looks slightly deformed.

Even if it is different than the proto.. it is far better than the 1/4 proto in my opinion. Also the photo is not of the same quality...

Shadows are playing a huge part in the comparisons. The mouth seems more open because the lower lip is being shadowed by the upper

The eyes look totally different because of the shadow being cast from the prominent brows, concealing the shape of the eyes and eyelids

The only difference is the production is softer and has a crappier paint app. Theres less definition to the hair like the curls and whatnot due to the softening from being cast

The problem is that the proto pics lit up the face from the front well where as most collectors have them displayed in the detolf or a shelf with almost 0 front facing lighting, Almost always from above or just natural

Yeah i understand it's just unsightly is all.

I'd have preferred a sculpted head/neck to be honest with the head sculpted facing down. They could have done 2 different version sorta like EB did, one with chin down and one with a forward facing head. In my opinion of course

I just think at this price they could have tried to think of a better way to do it to make it seem more seamless, when you move the chin closer to the neck the joint at the back of the head becomes more prominent, it's like a double edged sword.

The faceplates thats a big annoyance of mine with that figure. Looks like he has no chin what so ever make him even more derpy in conjunction with the eyes.

it's only a pet peeve i suppose and because i like to pose him slightly side on

Totally unavoidable if you want to be able to bow the head.

All good points but the fact is no matter what lighting I put mine in it looks nothing like the Proto sculpt. Maybe the poorly painted cross eyes is what making the whole sculpt look completely different. :dunno

This mystery will never be solved until someone does a repaint and fixes the eyes so they are not cross eyed. If it still looks deformed even if the eyes are fixed then it obviously isn't the exact same sculpt.

Nevertheless, it doesn't matter if it is the same sculpt, the problem is it doesn't look like the same sculpt. It looks like a deformed version of it, completely way off, even if that is just an illusion. Now I personally believe it isn't exactly the same sculpt because it got deformed in the conversion process from resin (proto) sculpt to PVC for mass production. I will continue to believe it that until I see the final product look like the proto pic I posted.

Anybody had their last flex pushed? Mine is scheduled for sep. the fifth, and so far, nothing yet, whereas the DX13 and the BD Mark VII final payments had been pushed (5th as well).
Don't know yet if I should feel hopeful or not.

Mine is scheduled for the 5th as well and has not yet been moved but I'd assume that it will be very soon. He hasn't appeared in HK yet.

I never realized how much of a difference there really was. These last few pages has helped me decide to cut the BW head sculpt and use it as a custom mouth piece.

Why do that when you can get the mouth piece on ebay for 18 bucks? Looks just like the Bruce sculpt.

:goodpost:

That should be the end of the debate, but it won't be.

I have two of them, and neither is cross eyed.

Could you elaborate on your "deformed" theory? How did that happen exactly?

No it actually is more open look.

You really don't see the way it's a shadow creating the apperance of an open mouth?
