I don't think anyone is going to pay $700 for it though. As great of a figure, I've seen great deals for him in the low $400.

Sadly, it's not one of those figures that blew up in value. Because it really deserved it.

Yeah that's going to be tough. I bought mine a few months ago for a little over $400.

I guess the low aftermarket value for this, and actually most 1/4 scale figures (I think EB Joker is the only exception to this), is due to the low demand. Perhaps most NECA collectors find this too expensive, while most PF/Statue collectors still think that it's just an oversized doll. Regardless, it really is a fine piece that I'm happy to have in my collection.

I think you hit the nail on the head. And 1/6 collectors often don't have the room for larger scale figures. I am looking forward to HT announcing and releasing the 1/4 Iron Man Mark 43 figure because I think that is going to be a game changer. I think that will really wake the 1/4 market up because of the enormous popularity of the character. That will be the first 1/4 figure that lots of collectors will own and if they are anything like me.. Once you move up to 1/4th you want more. Choosing Star Wars and then Iron Man for 1/4 seems to be a strategic move by Hot Toys and I hope it works.

Thanks for the input guys.
I may reduce my price and see what happens.
I cannot however go anywhere near the low $400's for the QS001 SSC Exclusive, I'd be loosing money.
If I can't sell it at a reasonable price I'll keep it.

If you can time it on eBay when yours is the only figure available then you could probably move it priced higher.

I think they made too much of these. Including EB with their Batman. They didn't make as much joker since it was exposed early on that the paint smudge on the nose, distorted face, elongated body and faulty outfit that they ceased offering them. I remembered the Batman was offered in a few batches while the joker was just 1 or 2 batches.

I had a hard time selling my spare one of these a while back. The QS002 Endo sold much quicker. It is in a funny area this figure is in right now until HT fleshes out their 1/4 line. I have mostly statues, but love this fig. For me the base really lets it down though as I assume it does for a lot of other 1/4 statue guys. I ended up selling the base and will do some kind of custom in the future.

So you're saying that Iron Man is a more popular figure than Batman?

We'll have to agree to disagree on that point, my friend. :wink1: While it's true HT churns out a lot of Iron Man product, and he's probably very popular in the Asian markets, I tend to think that overall, Batman may very well be THE iconic pop culture collectible figure on the market today.

In terms of Hot Toys & their 1/4 scale figure line, I think a few factors come into play, all previously alluded to: Hot Toys collectors prefer their established 1/6 scale, 1/4 scale collectors are mostly statue collectors & still see HT as glorified action figures (re: statue snobs :D), and price.

Myself, I do own a variety of collectibles, 1/6, 1/4 HT and Enterbay, and even old school McFarlane Spawn, as well as a variety of statues, all shapes & sizes. I collect what I like regardless of scale. But different folks have different strokes...and different budgets as well.

I agree that Batman is the more popular character overall but I don't think that this figure made 1/6 figure collectors and statue collectors venture out of their comfort zone because they HAD to have it. I think we will see lots of that with the 1/4 HT Iron Man release. Iron Man collectors are more likely to be completionists and buy up everything which will introduce new people to 1/4. That's all I was saying.. And the character being very popular in Asian markets is a big deal.

I ended up picking one of these up when the prices were in the high 4's low 5's. I'm glad to have it in my collection and it might be one of those items that a few yrs from now it's value may increase again. But then again even if it doesn't I won't regret holding onto it. I recently sold my entire iron man collection piece by piece. I'm glad I did because the market is becoming so saturated with figures it looks like after market prices are dropping.

For those who have this figure, may I know how is it holding up?

I find myself in a position to get 1 of these at mid $300s and am concerned if the suit will disintegrate over time?

The new 1/4 QS 005 Iron Man @ $550 makes this Batman figure look like a steal. I got the regular, new, for $370 so Iron Man looks pretty shocking to me for what you get. I didn't bother chiming into the thread because I know I'd be jumped on.

Batman

- Batman headsculpt with moveable eyes
- electronic Sonar headsculpt
- Bruce Wayne headsculpt

- complex, mixed medium suit
- electronic EMP gun
- sticky bomb gun
- belt with custom removable pouches that have built in features
- grapple gun
- batarangs
- mini bomb

- Batman cowl
- Joker mask
- Bane mask
- Scarecrow mask

- sculpted base

vs.

Iron Man

- Stark head
- Iron Man head
- electronic body
- open flaps and panels

- sculpted base with removable arm

Hey.. It's Iron Man. I always expected it to be their most expensive QS yet but it's actually cheaper than I imagined it would be. I remember Budget Stark explaining in one of his videos that robot figures are more complex to make than human figures. Makes sense to me. You are right though.. Batman comes LOADED.

It's more complicated and cost more for to make iron man due to the molds they need to make from those parts. As opposed to batman's 3-4 separate pieces of suit details. Plus they know it's iron man - the fans have more / willing to burn cash on all iron man products. Look at BR Joker 2.0 :lol

More complicated? They had to make an all new buck for Batman. They had to tailor and stitch an under suit. All that armor is sculpted and required molds, just as much as Iron Man. It's not 3-4 pieces to glue on, one leg alone has 11 seperate panels! That's just the suit, not counting all the weapons and accessories or the seperate sculpted faces or all the R&D that went into it.

The 1/4 Iron Man is a big chunk of shiny glorified plastic in comparison. Moveable panels and flaps? A Hasbro transformer has all that. You can't tell me the tooling on Iron Man cost more than their Batman, or even their Endskeleton. Their latest Robocop is the same deal. It's an action figure in every sense of it's build whereas these dolls with their clothes and intricate armor is much more complex. I could see if Hot Toys actually made these things to where you would literally have a full Tony Stark figure (true type and all), wrapped and fitted in the Iron Man armor, actually standing in the suit, but none of those figures work that way.

NECA had to work out sculpting, tooling, electronics, a seperate sculpted head, etc. for their 1/4 Iron and that figure was $80 bucks. Yeah, obviously Hot Toys is way better (especially that beautiful Robert Downey Jr. head and paint job), but $470 more? Get real. :lol

I agree 1/4 Bats far more complicated from inside out to develop and produce. All the accessories alone are just as complex as anything on that IM figure. IM is just a hollow figure molded in plastic sections. I appreciate how nice the IM is..but HT spent far more energy on Bats.
