Is Sarah's belt adjustable? Because I just had a _____ of a time putting that sheath on with help from a pair of tweezers and afterwards the belt seemed much looser and I thought I tore the belt, but I was then able to make it tighter. It seemed to work like a real belt like that would.

Just wanted to make sure I didnt actually tear anything.

One of her buttons fell off too, from I believe the back of her vest on the 4th loop. Only loop missing a shiny black button, so I glued it back on assuming that was where it went.

I like grain only when I want the shot to have a bit of a horror, worn type feel to it, it's good for moody black and white work. As far as full color, tradtional stuff, I just prefer clean, but the nice thing is, it's easy to change a setting and get whichever you like.

I'm looking at upgrading my camera again this year, Canon's got a Rebel T2i now that's 18 MP for a price about the same as I paid for my Rebel Xti which is only 10 MP. The nice thing with higher MP is you can take further away shots and crop them down and still have them be sharp to save spending huge money on super zoom lenses, the picture's not as nice of course, but those lenses can run thousands for just one and unless you're going to get heavy use out of it, that's a lot of cash for the occassional use.

What lenses do you have and use?

Oh finally for the past month I have not dared to post any pictures of anything as I just received my new gear but images look actually less sharp than my previous set :horror
I finally consulted a friend with some experience as I thought that it must be my skill set but turns out The Sigma lens I got has some front focus issues on my Canon when using AF! Thank god I thought I was loosing it... tonight will have to do some attempts to use the in-camera adjustments to hopefully remedy this and i will be back!!

so when the pics are bad you have no excuse.:wink1:

I'm usually dubious about things that supposedly look better in person, but OMG!! Such a friggin' sweet figure in hand.

Just a heads up in the future, google some sites regarding compatibility of lenses before you buy, sometimes they'll be compatible but maybe some small thing you'll need to know, like this instance.

yeah... huge lesson learned :(
It came highly recommended and I quickly had to make a decision for either the Canon or the Sigma and with a great positive review online I was sold ... should have read a few more reviews :( Luckily the camera I have seems to provide microadjustments by lens whch I still have to figure out how to ;)

Which Sigma is it? I have lots of Sigma's (Only from the EX line though) very strange that they didnt get the AF to work on your's. If its one thing that Sigma has gotten right I think its the HSM AF on the EX line, even faster then Nikons own lensens.

It's true, the investments you make had better be justified. But let that not compromise your work. Give it some serious thought what you want to use the equipment for, before you buy it. There is much much more to photography than MP and fast AF, so, don't let these things blind you. Only buy what you really need and can handle. In the end, it all comes down to what you want to achieve, and whether your results match up to that. The origin of a good photo, lies in your head. Good equipment helps a lot, but is not a necessity for an expertly carried out photo. Thing is, to get the best out of what you have/use. The digital era has mixed up things quite a bit lately, but I've seen plenty of good photos from before that era.

I ugraded my main gear from Panasonic to Canon and picked up the Sigma 50mm 1.4 EX mainly to take indoor pictures without flash as we are expecting. Since prime lenses are also the cheapest way to get really sharp pictures it seemed like a good lens to invest in especially since I got it significantly cheaper on my HK trip (C$400 vs $700 in Canada) It just do happen that it potentially is also useful for my figures ;) My previouse Panasonic GH1 was not too bad and I loved the usability of it but it lacked sharpness. So instead of investing into Leica lenses and since I came across an amazing deal on the Canon I simply could not resist and I went for it. I just have lots to learn still , but quickly running out of time as the baby will not wait for anyone. I also picked up the Canon kit lens EF-S 15-85 f3.5-5.6 IS USM used at a real good price and the pictures using flash are really sharp compared to what I had before. I do have to say that even the Sigma using flash ends up real sharp using AF just when in low light without flash its more aparent that the AF is front focusing. So for baby pictures without flash I gotto make sure I am focused on the baby's face and not the crib or the sheets etc. Aready foudn plenty of guides to use the build in Micro Adjustments to counter the issue as based on my search it seems that bringing it back to Sigma won't resolve the issue :(

sorry waaaaaay too long and off topic

I have their 30mm 1.4 EX, a very good lens. At 1.4 you have to be creative to use the focus depth correct because its so short.

Man this thread has sure gotten quiet.

I've just broke down and bought one for $100.50 shipped... she's going for very cheap prices on ebay... around 100-110 shipped.
