I had the exact same reaction. There's a moment, when he's looking down through the skylight in the rain, and I swear Neal Adams art flew off the page, it was striking.

Anyone else catch the list of writers and artists acknowledged near the end of the credits? I was particularly happy they mentioned Darwyn Cooke.

Ego was one of the comics that influenced the movie.

I've been hoping to see a collar on the suit for fifteen years, so I was thrilled to finally see it happen. It always seemed like the ultimate solution for maintaining the classic silhouette while allowing Batman to turn his head.

I get why people like the rubber cowls, and indeed I am thrilled the see Keaton sealed in his classic rubber sarcophogous again, but to me the Pattinson cowl is the most comic-accurate cowl we've ever received and I absolutely want them to maintain a similar look in the sequels. It looks like Neal Adams drew the thing into existence.

Gonna have to disagree. Adams always drew Batman with a thick neck leading straight up into the bat-ears, a look that only the Keaton cowl gives you. Pattinson's by contrast stays true to the shape of his neck, which is why his cowl has a bulbous look from the back; the neck on Pattinson's suit isn't artificially widened to give that Adams-esque straight line. Also, Pattinson's bat-ears are firmly attached to the top of the cowl, whereas Adams Batman's bat-ears seemed to grow straight up out of the sides of the neck in one straight line. I always think it looks awkward from the side when the ears come up the middle of the head rather than the back.

Sometimes Adams did the ears sweeping up the back too. The one thing all his Batman renditions have in common though is that huge thick neck, which no actor can hope to match (really, you'd need a linebacker), hence the necessity of either using a Keaton-style cowl or, maybe, me letting go of my preferred image of Batman.

It should look slightly different but not to this extent. I've seen some really close up photos of the suit and the chest appears to be the same Cordura as the body but on the chest plate and shoulder plates it appears to be fixed to a hard armor plate with some sort of transparent lacquer or resin. This changes the sheen and color slightly, but it should be very similar still and identical in texture.

I think it's just a matter of which features are important to you. To me, Adams draws the cowl to have a lightweight, natural look that conforms to the features of the person wearing it (admittedly, that person has hyper idealized features that give it the look you're talking about)--whereas the heavy rubber cowls are creating all those shapes and features wholesale, sculpted like a statue that entirely obscures the features of the person wearing it.

Or, to put it another way: Pattinson looks like he's wearing a mask. Keaton and Affleck look like they wearing sculpted busts of Batman.

Again, I completely get why you like it. I just think we're focused on the importance of different elements. I also wouldn't ask Michael Keaton to put on Pattinson's cowl, you know? I think part of why the Pattinson cowl works is because of his features. I like that it works with those features instead of against them.

Too many references that show that the suit armor and chest plate is a very similar texture. I just looked at the 1 hr Batman behind the scenes too and yeah the chest piece isn’t that shiny. They might have some slight variations but the shining and reflecting has a very similar effect. Hot Toys I don’t understand how they can mess that up, that alone makes me want to be Inart already because I’m confident they won’t make that same mistake but I guess we’ll have to see until next month.

Okay I'm feeling the figure a lot more with these convention photos. Looks pretty damn good. Doesn't look as skinny/narrow/lanky like he does in the official photos.

Quick edit to what the Chet plate could have been. I really hope they make a final change to that chest before final release but most likely that’s probably it.. This would have looked much more screen accurate in my opinion.

The custom does look good, but it doesn't look better than what we've seen from HT so far IMO. And I can't imagine that custom was cheap either considering that only 2 were made apparently. But Justin obviously has money to blow

Pretty sure whoever sold it to him was like "Crap! The HT one comes with so much and so much cheaper than what I paid for this! I wonder who I can pawn this thing off to?"

Cool, hopefully you at least got a decent amount for the sale if not all your money back. When it comes to big properties like these, I figure it's always a good rule of thumb to wait to see what HT (or in your case InArt) does as you can never know if they will knock it out of the park which could save you some big money in the end without the trouble of finding someone to sell the custom to.
