I only wish they would've included gloveless hands like InArt so we could vary the looks up, but alas. They've always gotta leave something for the 2.0, I guess. šŸ¤£

Regardless, Hot Toys have come a long way since I started 5 years ago. It can be argued that it shouldn't have taken this long -- and that they can still do more -- but I'm willing to hand out praise as much as criticism, when each is earned. This is a promising start for the Artisan line.

I appreciate peopleā€™s takes on this, but I of course, largely disagree lol. Itā€™ll always be a divisive character representation in figure form.

Imo, INARTā€™s major detractor of the likeness is the variance in amount of hair and the range in color. Iā€™m also of the opinion that 90% of collectors simply donā€™t position the eyes well at all, which again, also hinders likeness. The likeness itself is pretty spot on to Heath (for a mass produced product), and Iā€™m shocked when people say they donā€™t see it. Again, perhaps itā€™s because they have the eyes looking derpy, which whenever I see those sculpts, Iā€™m like yeah, that looks terrible.

I personally donā€™t see Heath at all in the Hot Toys portrait and not a big fan of the open mouth expression. I think the bloggers are doing a lot of the heavy lifting here with how good it looks. Just discussing.

With the face paint improvements this came out really really good. I perfer this to InArt as it looks like the Joker where to me InArt looks like Heath in makeup. Glad I snagged an artisan copy, this looks like a fantastic release a couple of the photos of the artisan fools my brain for a second to think its a movie shot.

Yeah, Im gonna have to break out the Shania Twain on this one

I just don't see a likeness, and I feel like the paintjob is weirdly too detailed, almost giving me an AI or digital art effect - hard to articulate what it is about it that is setting me off, its not the uncanny valley as it doesnt look lifelike to me at all - its almost like an inverse uncanny valley effect?
Something about this figure is strange to me.
Yeah - there is just something kind of ugly about this figure IMO

Not to rain on anyone's parade though, glad for the folks who are happy.

I also see next to no Heath in this sculpt and think it only works in the Hit Me pose.

As a complete package, it still looks pretty great though.
Now we wait for JND. The comparison videos between the big three will be entertaining for sure.
Definitely eager to see JNDā€™s set once released. Iā€™m ery pleased with my 3 JND pieces which is more than I can say for my InArt figures. Hopefully Kojun Works maintains the same production quality that the larger format statues are able to maintain.

We REALLY are the harshest critics when it comes to details here, some of that is great because it helps push the hobby forward in great ways..That said, those who don't see a likeness or think this sculpt leaves much to be desired have lost they whole minds lol. While not perfect it's an AMAZING sculpt in 1/6 scale...feel bad for those who who think this is subpar as they will be chasing a mythical dragon for many many years with no end in sight as no sculpt will ever be perfect.

On the sculpt:

Sculpts that show teeth often wind up goofy, and this is no exception. The best pictures are the ones where the head is tilted down, and the teeth are hidden in shadow.

The hair looks awful. But it's never quite right on any mass produced Ledger.

The paint is a little all over the place. It doesn't look natural to me, especially in places where it's dripping or smeared. But that's in part due to its conflicting direction. It's as if they looked at multiple references, and tried to incorporate an aspect from everything. The result looks cherry picked and machine made, and it doesn't quite work in execution.
