I always wonder what conditions people have their toys in. If I don't have my de-humidifiers cranking in the summer here in the midwest, my relative humidity will hit 80+ percent. That will do some serious damage to pleather and glue. This seems like something that's too quick to be related to harsh climate conditions, so hopefully just a defect. I don't think my sculpted version will have this issue!

Hot Toys use cheap pleather when good pleather is arguably better then real leather for their purpose, if they also skimp on the hair glue it will bite them VERY hard in the ass. Even if you have a humid climate this should not happen on a hundreds of dollars figure, there are $20 dolls or less from the 80s still looking fine.

Kind of glad I want sculpted. Arguably looks better too.
Without a doubt it looks better and probably even more so in the future when these things start reacting to the elements/getting old and falling out. Hot Toys glue has always been a joke as with their pleather.

I can just see it now instead of my suit is flaking it will be my hair is falling out OR possibly both:lol

Been saying it for years they make beautiful junk.

I got tired of seeing the silver metal hardware HT used to secure the vest (right) so I switched it to a Topo 2.0 (left). It's a trade off, since the HT is more accurate in the collar. But the color is identical, and I'd rather not see the metal pins.

Much, much, much better. IA vest is better. Wonder what HT designers thought…

The potential hair issues is the main reason why I try to get both if possible.

I have a stack of old boxed SW Hasbro 12" figures rotting away in the basement that got hit with a water line break a few years back - absolutely drenched to the core. I just tossed them in the corner and they still reside there. Gnarly stuff indeed.

I bet you $2 those figures are fine.

Probably true about those figures still being ok. But, I think there’s a common misconception that just b/c these figures are expensive that it also means they’re super durable. It’s just not the case.

Lots of luxury items are pretty fragile.

My target transformers figures are more durable than my more expensive Masterpiece Transformers.

I’m pretty sure a pair of Dickies pants from Walmart will last me longer than a pair of similar pants from Neiman Marcus.

They are not only fine...they are thriving in that corner! :)
