Maybe the same thing is happening to you - what made you pass on a 25 year grail?!

Well, first and foremost was the price. Another time, another place, I would have paid it. The endo and its companion piece, the police shootout Terminator, both came up on ebay last year sometime. Even though I search Terminator several times a day, they didn't show up in my search. The guy had these super generic subject lines....Scoop Skeleton and Scoop t800. They were both in pristine condition, unbuilt in box. The endo sold for only $200 and the Arnie for $50. It really soured me, but also made me more determined. I've been searching Scoop in models since then as well.

The endo I passed on came from a source other than ebay. Because I would have had to pay four times the amount (a legitimate price for it), I balked. I thought long and hard about it. Its what got me into collecting. I had one on order in 1991 and it fell through. It's driven me nuts since then. I realized that the only reason I still wanted it, was because it was the most accurate T1 with respect to proportions. The kit was great for its time, but it's dated. My hope is that Prime 1 will make a truly accurate T1 endo one day now that they have the license.

There's a part of me that still wants the kit for its pure collectability. So few were made. I know that it would have to remain unbuilt in the box to preserve its value. The bigger part of me wants to enjoy what I have, to be able to look at it. Can't understand the people who buy statues and such, and won't even open the shipping box let alone the product box. MISB means more to them than the actual item. To each his own though.

Maybe I'll regret my decision six months down the road, but for now, it's a little liberating. It doesn't control me. I may explode if Prime 1 doesn't come through though.

I finally got the figure and it's great and all, but what happened to his body? Did Arnie lost weight? He's puny next to the 136. :lol

It's pretty much the DX10 body which was less bulky than the MMS136 in the first place and thus not a great choice for T1. And to make it worse they gave this figure the largest heads since MMS02 Hamburgerface.

Well that's disappointing. I had my second 136 on a TTM20 body which looked great. The TTM20 is identical to the 136 body sans the smaller rubber neck. I guess I might get another to replace the 238 body, it just doesn't work for me. Some people might not notice this, but his pecks and chest are too small, disproportionate to the head and the 136.

Also, another nitpick is that I don't like the mouth expression on the 238 as it looks too neutral. The 136 could do super menacing looks just by tilting down the head.

I guess he can't hunch over like the Salvation pose which the 136 can. Standing straight, he looks okay. Awesome photography, I love it!

Thanks! 2 companies are making the TX, and I was contemplated to get her until I realize she's just a gimmcky character at best. Cameron is a real Terminator, and deserves her spot next to Arnie. :lecture

P. modded his figure, he failed to mention that, the rascal :lol

Dagnabbit!

I was desperately trying to get the 238 to hunch over, as that's my default T1 T-800 pose, but he looks significantly smaller next to the Tech Noir that I had to futz the jacket to give that illusion he was bigger. The Tech Noir had no issues going for this pose:

Oh well, looks like I'll need to pad the arms and chest when I get my second 238. Might as well weather the jacket too. The body is truly a disappointment. :(

The body wouldn't look so small if his head wasn't so goddamn fat.

Yeah that too.

Overall I'd say it's a great figure, but as usual with HT- hampered by perplexing issues that never should have existed in the first place. This in no way looks remotely like Arnold's physique in 1984, especially when they got the Tech Noir so right. I need to replace the body with a TTM20 or just pad him (already did the neck mod). Until then, it's a solid 7/10 figure.

I think that's all valid, and I'd give it the same score too. With some mods, it can be made a great figure. But at the costs of these things anymore, anything that needs to be done to the figure outside of taking it out of the box and displaying is inexcusable.

I'd take mods over melting into goo after 3 years any day.. :monkey3

The AR-18 is too big aswell - does that bother anyone else or is just me? :lol

I haven't touched the weapons since I'm going for the BD look, but I'm getting a second one this month for the Police Shootout.

Be sure to take the strap off the rifle since outside of a continuity error when he reloads, he doesn't have it in the Police Station scene.

Good tip, thanks Pliss!

:lol

i thought you knew :)

You had my hopes up for a second there!

Anyway, does anybody have pics of the actual costume of the heavy BD look? I tried to pause the blu ray, it seems it's super dirtied up but I could use some shots. I can probably weather him in a few hours with proper pics!

Not sure how this will come off on camera, but I did some weathering and repaint based on what appeared on screen. The jacket and boots have been dirtied up, and I painted the eye bag purple like he was in the movie. Haven't touched the pants yet as I have no clear shots of how it should look. The eye bag alone makes him much more intimidating!

yep almost all my MMS238s have beefed chests, backs, trapezius, necks, jacket shoulders and shirt throats. you can compare your figure without shirt/jacket to similar photos of mine above and see yourself.

i'm surprised you've never met these pics - they seem to be the only reference online where things can be seen clearly enough:

and if they aren't original but just somebody's attempt to recreate the movie props, here is the movie doll photo:

Nice work! The BD head was way too clean and pink to look like this.
