I guess they figured that people wouldn't appreciate the difference in colour between head and neck. But I agree with you - I would've appreciated a much paler paint job - for both heads.
therewas a way to avoid it if they at least made him pale. MMS136 is already a lot paler than MMS238. if they at least used the same color, it would already be much better for both heads of MMS238.

The prototypes were paler if I remember correctly, though it might have been mostly the lighting used in the promo pics. They should have made the whole figure paler - the heads and the body.

They just did their usual tanning salon paint job on this figure, when really he should have been that pale ^^. And he's not really that pale there, just not tanned. There's a middle ground between the tan (which he never had) and the pale rotting skin which would have been more than acceptable.

I think at this point, we just should be glad we got them in the first place. None of the T-800 figures are accurate and the DX10 and 238 are easily the worse if you're a hardcore fan of the films. I doubt we'll ever see a revisit of these figures again so I'm just grateful we got the half assed attempts.

I really think some other company should hold the license for the Terminator, maybe we'll see much better sculpts and in a perfect world, TSCC figures. Oh well.

you chose a bad example.

this is a good example.

i do miss the predator/terminator days around 2007 - 2013 when hot toys was focused on everything from terminator and predator.

I thought about selling my Tech Noir and replacing it with Police Shootout. Glad I did not. I did however add a few pieces from the Shoot Out release….

Wise. The pants and the boots IMO are imperatives to port over onto the Tech Noir. Sometimes I forget that my MMS136 figures didn't always have those; I see pictures of the stock clothes and I'm taken by surprise by the incredibly bright beige pants. The hell reference material was Hot Toys basing those off?

Yeah, its a bit of a head scratcher. Seen the Knightmare Batman coat though? The colour is way off. :exactly:
I ported over the 238 boots & pants to my two Tech Noirs. Had to be done, the old 136 boots look like Herman Munsters boots compared. :lol

...i think i've already seen this discussion about boots/pants replacement from 238 to 136... last time it made me gather another technoir figure. so please stop :(

How does new reference material just suddenly materialise like this. Thanks for posting that, added to bookmarks.

I actually still use those boots on any figure that has the giant MMS238 heads. Yes the sculpt is silly looking but I've always thought the smaller boots in combination with the big heads (as on any stock MMS238) just doesn't look good whereas the smaller boots look perfect on MMS136 with its smaller noggins.

Hah, what other scene would you do?

Here are some shots of the T1 puppets and SFX i come across and thought i would share them for reference or discussion.

Excellent find! I wished HT would have used these as reference as the 238 is way to tanned and inaccurate to pass as the BD T-800. You can clearly see he looks chalk white in the final puppet.
