I can agree with everything you said here except on the paint work, that is an area where I believe hot toys have improved over the years, the blood job on the dx13 may not be there best work to date but overall paint work on the newest figures is pretty stellar, like Barney ross v2 compared to v1, or last stand wolverine vs origins, in most cases paint is now better.
I think it's really hit or miss nowadays. You mention X3 Wolvie, but then look at how bad the Wolverine's paint is (much worse than the Origins one). I do think they can do their best work nowadays when they really put the effort in, as with "the Mandarin," but for every one of those you get a Nick Fury, Coulson, or Bruce Banner that looks like HT is just phoning it in. 3-5 years ago, it seems like HT was a heck of a lot more consistent.

I'd take a remake of the Tech Noir figure with a missing eyebrows sculpt for an alt head. Even better if it comes with a burnt jacket and holes in the shirt as extras. As good as the MMS136 is, HT continues to make the flaws more apparent with each improved sculpt. Try putting shots of the Tech Noir sculpt side by side to movie stills. It will not hold up as well as this figure does with direct comparisons.

We all did that with this MMS 238 (along with photoshops we all couldn't agree on) and to many collectors, the sculpt still didn't hold up to the movie stills. :lol

Yeah, I personally think the secondary sculpt that came with MMS 136 is better than the "clean" sculpt coming with this figure, in terms of likeness. And look at their recent Loki. I certainly wouldn't assume that a newer sculpt will be better than something from the past, unless you're talking very early Hot Toys.

Yeah, and the recent Cap too. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the older one. That new Loki is horrible, I think the "older one" is far superior.

What like these?

Recent black widow too... That costume is horrible, the older one was awesome! ... At least i think so.

That's because people expect it to look just like a full size living human. I think you originally posted the comparisons to show how close it is, so you know how good it is.

Yup, but it still seems like a lot of people's criticisms against it are the same criticisms that the MMS 136 received. Squashed, face, small head, the nose and mouth, etc. So atleast in that regard this 238 will be consistent with the 136 (as long as the final product lives up to the prototype and we don't get something that's worse).

Btw who is that hot chick... In black dress in your photobucket! ...

Missed that. Must have been an edit?

Correct. She was in that show True Detective, quite the body on her.

Yeah, I've wanted that since the MMS 136 pics went up. I like the eye wound one we got, but man, I'd love the clean, burned off eye brows look with the shot gun.

What Hot Toys should do is make a '84 Sarah Connor as a Con exclusive (you know, the pink tie dye shirt, blue jeans) and pack in that brow less headsculpt with her, ala T2 Connor/T-1000. I mean, why not? Past exclusives have been the likes of Joe Colton, Angelica, Gordon, and other secondary characters that nobody really seems to care about. Why not make a Sarah and throw in the headsculpt above as an extra incentive to Terminator fans?

Problem with that is what head-size do they make it? Do they sculpt it to not look dissimilar from the original MMS136 sculpts or attempt a superior likeness? What body do they make it compatible with? 136? TTM20? DX13-type? etc etc. Too many questions there. Better off just making another entire Tech Noir release, as BMD said maybe this time with a battle-damaged outfit.

Ah, but you know what the next conundrum is. By the time it comes out, there's a risk that it'll look even better than the MMS 136 and 238 combined (and maybe even need a completely different body). Then what? At that point, wouldn't we need a revamped Police Shootout to match it (while we're waiting for our updated DX 10 and T-1000).

In the end, I'm just happy I got the versions I had been *****ing about (Tech Noir, Police Shootout and Battle Damaged T2). That's why I think just including the "final piece" of the puzzle (that singed clean head) with Sarah Connor or something would be the most appropriate. It's too bad all these ****ers don't just have the normal True Type bodies with the traditional neck adapters, then they'd all be compatible. But that's another issue entirely. :lol

That shot of the endo T-800 at 0:22-0:23, deleted footage from the film? That looks cool as hell. I've seen that music video a thousand times and don't remember that shot. It's definitely not in the final film.

i actually don't know who that is, i just used filename "alexandra" and place "mtv movie award" in google and compared the appearance with your photo.
:)

Well she's quite a stunner. A google search will bring up her nude scene in True Detective upon sight of which sentences cannot be formed and there will only be :drool

Since some were discussing the missing link sculpt, I thought I'd post mine. I haven't weathered/burned the clothes yet, nor have I found a 1/6 squad car to set him in. Not really sure it's all that interesting a figure in and of itself. It seems out of place without the car and I don't really plan on getting that. I do have the motorcycle for when the MMS 238 is released.002.JPG
