This thing will be in a large box. It might not weight a lot but my guess is whatever the final price shipping will add another $50+ to the final price.
For example I was pricing the SS Dewback and shipping for me on that is $44.00.:(

Yes and outside USA, you have to add taxes, on my case 26%.

No but they have shown themselves eager to break through all previously inconceivable price barriers.

So collectors that live in California would pay close to $750 for this essentially?

If the Batmobile retails for 649 + tax roughly $47 + shipping to california $44 (someone esitimated in this forum).

$740 for a plastic toy? LOL

I am not from USA, that is why this called my attention. Why people from California pay taxes?

It's because Sideshow is located in California. I don't believe the shipping to CA will be as much for this as it would for other places however.

You folks are going to be so wrong! Has Hot Toys ever priced a figure or vehicle at close to $700 with shipping?

Well people are basing it on a few things:

Costs in China have risen dramatically in the last 3 years ...and combine that with the more dramatic price rise from Hot Toys figuring out that consumers will willingly part with way more cash than they used to charge...
The average figure now costs significantly more than it once did.

They are also pursuing more expensive licenses and its believed that the actor/movie rights for 89 Batman cost them a bit more and that's why those figure prices are significantly more (that's a random guess though)

And then add in that they stated they priced the Tumbler incorrectly when it was first released because they underestimated the cost of production.

And while Hot Toys haven't made a big vehicle recently to make a direct comparison with, they have made the Iron Man gantry - essentially 4 big robot arms - which they apparently believe is worth $500 (with a figure)

So who knows really...but based on the above, what do you think is a reasonable guess ?

I would be shocked if they rolled out a preorder for more than $599. I still say that rational will overcome greed and it will be $499.

:lol really?

They lost a bundle on the Tumbler, that retailed for about $400 if memory serves, and that was a few years ago when most figures were $150 which means this'll be more than that was and with current HT pricing it'll be even more, with Iron Monger being $480 you really think this'll retail for less than $600? I'm betting about $600-800

What's so funny? And since when is $499 cheap for a plastic toy? This vehicle is less complicated than the Tumbler and adding another $100 at $499 or $200 at $599 is about as much as this should be.

As much as it should be maybe. But HT doesn't operate on 'shoulds'!

$599 is pretty realistic.

People are shelling out almost $500 for Iron Monger.

Iron Monger seems like a very complicated piece with countless parts that'll cost a bundle to assemble. Burton's Batmobile is mostly one block of unpainted black plastic, making it probably Hot Toys cheapest piece to assemble/paint, ever. $499 seems more than reasonable.

Agreed! and i don't believe for a second that they lost money on the Tumbler. The RC version seems like a lot more more went into it and that retailed for a whole lot less.

I wonder why HT hasn't released any production photos of this beast yet.. I'm worried it will be way later than the actually figures are released :/

I think they are trapping people by letting them by the figures first, so when the car comes out overpriced, people will feel compelled to buy it just to complete the set. I PO'ed the set but if this goes over 500 I will re-sell it at a later date.

I won't go a dollar over $500. At the end of the day this thing is a toy car and even at that price I am paying way more than I should be.
