I wander if HT will end up re releasing this in a couple years once they start doing the Returns license :monkey1.

Do you really think they'll let the 1989 Batman and Joker sit on shelves two years before the Batmobile? Don't think so

Edit: Sorry, I missed read your post!

Agreed with corrections :)
OK. I also worry about fragile thin gimmick parts used on tumbler (like rear spoiler group).
However, some of the non-functional parts that should be articulated - sounds also let down factor. (like back wheel cover flap on Tumbler)
I think more gimmicks are better if they are solid. Maybe HT should reenforce them with metal parts.:yess:

To be honest, nobody noticed and complained about it when the prototype was shown at the show. That means the visual will be just fine with shortened back. I'm sure HT proportionally did it with extreme care.

I didn't post the info to 'rattle the cage'. I only did it so that buyers can prepare themselves (including myself) both for money and display space.

There are many statue items go over $1k mark among Sideshow items. I'd prefer the lower price for this item as a collector, but I'd rather have them focus on better details, more gimmicks and Quality Control.

Erm, yes they did, there were lots of complaints and discussion about the shape.:dunno

Someone "in the know" mentioned $500 at one point as well.

Didn't someone ask a Sideshow vendor at one of the Cons and they said $500-$600 as well? I wish Hot Toys would just come out and release the specs/pics and preorders would go up.

I hope so. There's no way I'd pay $1000 for a Batmobile. I might as well just pre-order the Tumbler, if that's the case.

Exactly! If this one is significantly higher in price I'll just get a tumbler instead (assuming it's still available!). Only got room for one big vehicle.

Well I definitely did notice something odd when I first saw it at SDCC 2011, and the minute I pointed them out on here alot of people went berserk on a firing squad at me and start calling out crap about how I took my Toynami version one open to correct a few things.

The general shape of the HT one is too stubby which in a way made the car look shorter and the side mechanics are too small and short too. Those were the first 2 flaws I saw when I looked at it the first time at the showfloor at SDCC

I do have the hot wheels 1:18 scale one.
yeah I am bothered by the orange headlights. I am also bothered by the fact that the pins are visible, so it looks like they got black dots on the headlights.

The front wheels also sit a bit deep into the well. And in my opinion the car is a bit high off the ground. But yes, the overall shape is fine in the HW 1:18 one.

But for some reason, though the Bandai one is not perfectly correct and stylized a bit, I just love the look of it and the way how everything sits. Especially the way the wheels position in the car. Just everything about it I love. I just wish it's bigger like maybe 1:6 or 1:4 scale.

By the way, do you have the Bandai one built already DarkMagic ?

Yeah, if I ever get the courage, I will dremel out those orange light covers and pins and replace it with the proper yellow.

Never got the Bandai one, but I always loved the undercarriage and that it wasn't a straight re-do of the AMT version, (which was great, but screwed up the trunk design).

I missed a lot of pages in the middle, so excuse my ignorance. Maybe it was on other thread as well?
It sounded like many people panicked after I posted the article, so I thought no one noticed yet.
Like many HT products, photos and seeing with your own eyes can be very different.
I'll have to wait and check it out at the local store once it's released.
Like I said, I'll probably buy at the spot thou....

No offense, Jedster, but I am kinda hoping that your tendency to like the Bandai version gave you a skewed perspective on the HT Batmobile. You mentioned that you liked the curvature to be exaggerated as they did on the Bandai and I am hoping that seeing the HT in that scale skewed it for you. Then again as an artist, you probably have a good sense of proportions.

Right now i am hoping you took some pics of the batmoible while at the con and can do a comparison photo with your maquette to see the differences are.

On a strange but really happy note a friend of mine, for some reason decided that he couldn't do anything with the Richmans' toys version of the RC 89 batmobile and gave it to me. Never been played or displayed, box has wear and tear; but Jeez louise how lucky am I?

That's currently the largest and sweetest version of the 89 Batmobile in my collection. I love it even though the trunk is completely wrong and it's basically a big chunk of vacuum formed plastic, with no moving parts (besides the wheels) that is very light on the details.

I've got a few and took one for a spin exactly once...that thing is fast! Did you get one with the light kit and cocoon carrying case?

Nah, it was just in a box and no light kit. I did read that it was hard to come by. Still, Free! Can't get over that.

oh wow i am actually looking foward to this. i still dont know if i really want this. well wait, of course i would love it, but the only problem is, WHERE AM I GONNA PUT THIS THING??? i wonder how long it will be, are there any measurements for it yet? anyone know the dimnsions?

all this stuff is awsome. so happy to FINALLY see some love for the original classics, seems for years its all been about the nolan bale movies which i have no interest in. i grew up with the burton batmans, its gotta be one of my earliest memories as a kid which is why i am so partial to those films. i just cant get into the nolan movies, but i will always love the burton batmans as they introduced me to the characters and is still my #1 version of the character in any form. i am SUPER happy that this batmobile include all the gadgets and weapons that were used in both burton films and not just B89. its got the TURNTABLE thing?? to quote the riddler, now THATS impressive! are thee any pics of that?? also any pics of the grapple hok from B89? and i looooooovethe bat discs from returns, i wish it lso had the "tripping" fins that popped out. seems they really went all out on this one. im lmost afraid to ask how much this ting wil be.

also, i doubt this thing will be $1000. that just an insan price for a toy car, even with all the awsome stuff. i would say a few hundre, maybe $500 at most.

With all the talk I saw about the 1/18th HW batmobile, I was wondering?...I have one, and Im also a fan of the "shields" mode look...Has anyone tried making a cocoon for the HW car?...I thought about the cocoon from the early Kenner batmobile, but think it's a bit large...

Matt
