For the"it's going to be $1,000 because it's so huge!" club, keep in mind that this thing is twice the size, also officially licensed, holds two kids, has a working radio and actually freaking drives for $360. So clearly, plastic and chinese labor is not that expensive.

So, you know, at half the size and with no working electric motor, why should the Hot Toys Batmobile cost a nickel over $500?

By that logic a Hot Toys figure is no different than this.

It has an articulated body, tailored fabric clothes and accessories. Why do the Hot Toys figures cost hundreds of dollars more?

scale enonomy :lecture

If they price this at anywhere near $1000 (which I doubt), I will pass and be happy with my Tumbler.:yess:

I've don't even care that much about the price anymore. As long as this is less than the Toynami one, which it pretty much certainly will be, I'm getting it.

Because mugs like us will buy it and Hot Toys know it :slap
:lecture
If the kids car was a bag of sand not many parents would buy it and the manufacturers know it.

Jesus CHRIST! WTF's up with those kids' faces? Are they wearing masks? That's ____ing disturbing!!!

I always wanted a power wheel, but my parents could only afford a big wheel. Peddling is for suckers. :(

Remember the part where I put the Hot Toys Batmobile price at $500, despite being half the size, comparatively fragile and lacking the abilitity to actually drive that the $360 kids car featured? That was me accounting for Hot Toys craftsmanship. But my main point was that plastic isn't so expensive that an extra 6" in length over the tumbler is going to double or triple the price.

If its Hot Toys craftsmanship we're paying for, then size doesn't matter so much as the number of parts, the amount that needs to be hand-painted, the techniques required to achieve complex paint schemes, and the time it takes to assemble it all. So if they can sell the tumbler and it's hundreds of parts that I'm sure takes forever to assemble for $429, then they can sell the longer but drastically simpler Batmobile for about the same. Right?

You have a valid point, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a "wanting it tax" applied.

let's not forget the keywords Frank (HT Japan CEO) used here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The box is "less" than 2m. Not the car. and "LESS" - means 'Smaller"
Frank only said " the BOX could've been almost 2m if they hadn't shrink the back portion"
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The price is "less" than ¥100,000. Not $1000.
Also, Frank only said "They were able to push it below ¥100,000 (reduced by 20-30% by shortening the back portion)

It does sound like $1000, but heck, it could be $500 - (still less than ¥100,000)
One can only hope...

What do they mean by "shrinking" the back portion? They're making the car more inaccurate in size to reduce the price?

The price shouldn't even be that high in the first place.

The ****?
