What are the differences?

Mainly articulation points. The original (88) never really had to move, just stand there and be a background prop. So the hands, hips, waist etc were all basically made to look cool but not to actually move. IG-88 doesn't even look like he can walk if you actually pay attention to his on screen joints. Figures of him have had to take liberties with his design just to get him poseable.

11 has minor differences all over, but the most notable ones are the hands and hip joints. He's actually designed to walk now and has more elaborate hands. It's still largely based on the 88 design, but improved to actually be viable as an animate character.

Ah crap, I left a fatal word out of my original question. Is the IG-88 HEAD identical to the IG-11's?
I can see the waist, hips, and hands are very different than the original prop, but I haven't done the homework on the head. I'm hoping there's a chance to steal the 11's head to give to the Sideshow 88, as it is inaccurate and undersized.

Oh well I think the pattern and size of the red lights is different. 88 has more of them in different patterns and they're different sizes as well.

Cool character on the show, but probably not a figure I will buy. In for every variation of Mando though

I think I?m gonna pick him up, pass on heavy infantry since his appearance was too short. Ig11 had too many good scenes and I?d love him and mando on a shelf

We got a hint of how dangerous these droids were in the Clone Wars series...in this show they?re freaking lethal.

No subtlety, imagination or sense of nuance, those are their limitations. But in a firefight they?re worse than freaking Terminators.

This is what Battle Droids should have been. You can easily show that droids have limitations, like this IG-11 droid, without resorting to depicting the droids as inept or utterly stupid. Lucas was wrong to present the Battle Droids this way, moreso in each additional sequel to TPM, and it was made even worse by the Clone Wars series, essentially turning the main soldiers of the enemy into childish comic relief.

Oddly enough, you can catch hints of this with the Biker Scouts in the latest episode of The Mandalorian. You can really feel Filoni's influence in the scene where the Scouts are having a stupid comic relief conversation and cannot land a practice shot on the piece of ground debris. It felt just like an episode of Clone Wars/ Rebels. As fun as the episode was, that was not a good sign.

I loved Episode 8, it nailed the finale for this season and I immediately went and ordered this from SSC. The only thing I haven't ordered yet is the Stormies but that might break sooner than later.

I thought that Baby Yoda is messing with their aim/blaster bolts (?). Those troopers looked so confused and were trying to figure out what is going on with their pistols.

Yeah I love the character, but think I'll wait until it releases to decide if it's something I still really need to have. Since by that point I might be more excited by all the new characters and reveals in S2 instead...

I thought it was a gag about troopers being lousy shots.

That's what it was. And it's a short step from there to having the Stormtroopers be a meme in universe instead of just on the internet. It's a mistake to do this stuff and a hallmark of the kiddie Clone Wars/Rebels series which Filoni was head of.

I have more than a few problems with Filoni. I don't mind the Scouts being dumb grunts in a bored and comical conversation -- I loved that. A running in-universe joke about the Empire's feared armoured shock troops being lousy shots? Too far.

It was a gag. Given that the Scout Troopers were Adam Pally and Jason Sudeikis doing cameos I was shocked that everything went comical.

Yeah, Taika. Since Ragnarok a director I've got mad respect for. Like Ragnarok this episode started with me thinkin' WTF. Then there's that dark undercurrent and then IMO awesomeness.

Tipped me over the edge of picking up IG-11 for sure.

Well the fact this is post-Empire makes it a bit easier to accept their more lackadaisical and unprofessional style I think. Since they're all just a bunch of hired guns and mercenaries now without a Darth Vader to answer to. And the weathered, beat up armor fits with that as well.
