If it helps, SSC's preorder program is pretty good IMO, helps take the sting out. It doesn't actually change the cost, but if you buy yourself an SSC gift card, use it to buy a fig with a PO program, it lowers the monthly payments. It's like buying yourself your own coupon.

Also SSC will let you skip one PO payment. Plus you can just pay off the whole thing if you want if the fig comes in and starts shipping.

Not to say I don't appreciate BBTS (who double boxes and has lower shipping), or Alter Ego, Timewalker, or even the better 'bay sellers (have had some outstanding customer service on the 'bay). BBTS has come through with stuff long sold out at Sideshow, too, as well as the occasional decent sale.

I don't follow. Does SSC have a discount for gcs? I just took a look. Where's the discount for using a GC on a PO program come in.

Didn't say you get a discount by using a gift card. By using a SSC gift card WHEN YOU PLACE THE ORDER, and IF you use a payment plan, during checkout, when the "monthly" payment is calculated, THAT monthly PO payment will be lower.

So, say this month u wanna buy a fig, but in coming months u don't want to get hit with a large monthly PO payment. So if you use a gift card WHEN you make the purchase, SSC will deduct that amount, and then calculate how much you will pay for monthly PO payments.

For me, for example, it's a lot easier to deduct $100 off the top (for example) and then know my future monthly payments will be a lot lower. Because, I might make other preorders, all due at the end of the month, or whatever, and those add up.

The bad part is that SSC doesn't let you keep gift cards separate in your SSC account. If you buy 2 gift cards separately, and add to your account, SSC just bundles them together. So if you want to apply gift cards to two separate orders, you have to buy a gift card, make the order; buy another gift card, make the second order.

It's just a way to do a partial pre-pay, which for me has been useful. Haven't tried, but apparently if you use Paypal, Paypal will charge your card immediately for the TOTAL, except for shipping. That's another way to know your FUTURE payments will be low. Not sure about Paypal tho.

(Not everyone would want to do their payments (pre-paying) that way. Like you might decide to dump a preorder, and then you have to track the NRD you lost and whatever pre-paying you might have done.)

For expensive figures tho, I try to get the initial cost as far down as possible, as once a month I don't need to be hit with multiple huge charges. Assuming I have funds for a gift card in the first place. I like having low PO payments or even better, have used a gift card that is high enough, most of the fig is already paid off.

Hope that helps. Again, tho, I only "partial prepay" for figs I am completely sure of. It's a lot simpler to cancel without all that if u think there's a chance you may need to cancel a fig, 'coz life happens.

Can you confirm if you get rewards points on gift cards and then again after you spend them? I've heard a few people say that they do that.

If they are doing that, don't see how. When you buy a gift card and add to your account, there's no pending rewards listed. I don't recall ever getting points for gift cards. Wouldn't make sense. Like if someone gives you a gift card, they may not even shop at Sideshow. Maybe they are confused over getting double reward points for an event or a sale?

I hate to break it to you but Hot Toys has historically ignored May 5/6 completely. I'd love to seem them change, but I'm not hopeful.

I don't know about Cara. They need a new body for her. I am guessing it will be similar to Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn development. No way HTs will sell Cara Dunes in units anywhere near those 2.

I went back and looked at May 4:

2018/19: No reveals, but these were both right after Infinity War and End Game, so Marvel was huge at that time.

2017: Hoth Leia revealed

2016: ESB Yoda, TFA Han and Chewie, and the 1/4 Kylo Ren that was never released were all teased.

2015: Nothing but also very early in the Hot Toys Star Wars line.

So seeing as they have done stuff in the past and also that Star Wars is now huge again, I have a feeling they'll reveal something.

You know, in hindsight the Cara character had grown on me. I think in the age of non-stop entertainment and the accompanying vivisection online, I may judge too quickly sometimes. I didn't hate the character and felt Carano grew into the role a bit, but it's months later I think of her more fondly than just a throw-away character. Rose-coloured glasses? Maybe. Let's see what Season 2 brings.

Yes. At this point considering how deep they are going with the Mandalorian it would be criminal for HT to do them all but miss Kuill.

However that said, Rogue One comes to mind pretty damn quickly......
