Can someone translate? It mentions specfically 1/6 Sam Flynn and Clu 2.0 other than the lightcycle but I'd be interested to see what it say specifically about them.

Yeah, i want to know too!!
I'm glad to see they added the pattern on the back of the white suit!
Looks great!
And also the beaded bracelets as well!!

The only thing is seems like the robe and boots definitely won't light up... which is a shame... but still... kick ass figure! :rock!

I find it interesting that Clu, Kevin and Sam were specifically mentioned but no mention of a 2nd Lightcycle with Clu or even Quorra or Rinzler. With both Quorra and Rinzler they could close down on this particular aspect of the license...

Milk magazine has been pretty good in not detailing things that never come to pass. If they state Sam and Clu and HT was okay with it being published one could assume that at minimum those two are coming probably to be previewed and orderable by DVD release.

If they stopped after a regular Sam Flynn, Clu and Quorra it wouldn't hurt my feelings. It would be a shame if they stopped before that.

Well, that would have to be soon considering that the DVD/BR is due out on 04/05/2011...(in the US anyway)

Ordering by that date is certainly doable. I don't expect them to be out especially since Sam isn't due out until July but something previewed and orderable by April isn't too farfetched. From the article one would expect it to be Sam and Clu 2.0 but that is why I want the translation because it could say "We had plans to do...." just as much as it can say "Next up will be...."

I hope you're right, Mike...at least having those two characters (Sam & Clu) offered as figures would be cool...and I still find it hard to believe there aren't any comments or whatnot about a potential Quorra from HT...they do know how to produce some fine female figures and she's make a striking one for sure...plus, how cool would it be to be able to reproduce that main poster pose with Sam & Quorra (he holding the disc high above his head, her holding demurely onto him) for a display...it would look great!

I am sure it's been said and i not really continuing by saying it... this figure is a big disappointment, the likeness, the lack of light up feature on the identity disc especially the mounted one. Seems like a rush job to me.

I would dig a Clu, Rinzler, Sam or Quorra...

but this just seems like this will be it for stand alone figures, since we haven't seen anything else in months.

M.

I agree, but I will still order it. Just because it's Tron related and I just love William Hurt. Cause that's who it looks like!

I wouldn't count the likeness out just yet. HT always seems to tweak from order to production. When we see the actual production figure shown then we can knitpick it.

the lack of light up feature on the identity disc especially the mounted one. Seems like a rush job to me.

In order to do a light up Identity Disc two things would have to happen, one the disc would have to have some sort of connector that when it makes the necessary contact with the components on his back or in his hand would allow for it to light up similar to the SSC PF Lightsabers. That means it would be a simple piece of plastic that was painted but a complex piece that would drive up the price. I think honestly HT knew that with someone like Iron Man you could possibly get away with it but the TRON license was a gamble for a while even right after the hype of SDCC so they went with practicality over price. The second thing would be that like the Iron Man bodies there'd have to be the connections and batteries in the body so Kevin couldn't be on a standard TrueType. Since the character wears all cloth it wouldn't be logical to create a new TrueType or give him a IM styled TT again for cost purposes.

I would dig a Clu, Rinzler, Sam or Quorra...

I think all of us who keep coming in here would, I'm pretty sure that you'll see light up features on those with suits especially because if they go "rubber" they can put that over an advanced TrueType or specialized body since it's never supposed to come off. I still think the disc won't light up though.

Maybe, maybe not. The mention of Clu 2.0 and a Sam Flynn brings hope that those two are in the pipeline. Silk Spectre II came out months before the Comedian was announced. The Terminators from Salvation came out long before a Marcus or John was announced. TDK and Iron Man were cranking them out but that isn't HT's usual business plan. Like SSII and the Comedian though I think the timespan is to judge the sales of both the Lightcycle and Kevin (who realistically was their best bet at hitting new fans and old nostalgia) and the fact they are still being talked about but not shown yet makes me think that those two will be the last in the line.

I might get roasted for this but I would be ok if they skipped the light up feature in favor of using some kind of reflective material or paint that would reflect light under the right conditions. If that kept the price down and guaranteed that we could get a Clu, Sam and Quorra, I'd be ok with that. I collect the HT Iron Man line and rarely turn their lights on. I don't know how long the batteries would last but I've been afraid if I left them lit the batteries would die in a day or two. Then there would be the issue of replacing bulbs if one burned out. Done get me wrong the Iron Man figures look awesome when they are lit but it doesn't happen a lot. If trying to develop light up features for the Tron: Legacy figures and only getting Sam and Clu and have them cost $180-$200 each or using some kind of reflective option and getting Sam, Clu and Quorra at $135-$150 each I'd probably pick the later option.

I can live without the lightup feature; reflective would be OK with me, I just want the detail and accurate likenesses.

Alternatively, look at the HT RE5 line. The first two figures were announced at the beginning of 2009. Here we are in 2011 and battle suit Jill just got announced. So theres definitely hope.

I do think with Hot Toys its not always safe to come up with a deadline and say if something isn't announced by x date it is never happening. As an example I look at the Iron Monger, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, the Platoon figures and Abigail Whistler. I'm also thinking about the things that have been announced but we haven't see pics of yet, like the Christopher Reeve Superman and the Burton Batman stuff. I know people tell me to give it up but I still hold out hope for a Rorschach.

As far as Tron goes there are some other windows of opportunity for announcing other characters. Its possible we may not see a Quorra until the Tron: Uprising series airs, if that show is popular it would be smart for HT to release another figure. Also, if Tron 3 really does happen, they could release a figure while the hype builds up for it. I also think Tron: Legacy will have a ton of success on home video.

No, I think if HT can make money off of it and they still have the license it's always fair game. The thing is the long time lapses the stronger the opportunity that their license does as well. I wouldn't mind them using something akin to EL tape that reflects light and makes it appear that it is glowing over light up functions personally but I would prefer the figures regardless. I think if Tron 3 actually gets fully greenlit (it's been quiet on that front lately) then you'll see HT still continue it. If not I think they'll be done with the line after Clu and Sam.
