I wonder if theyre fing with us with the sword. It was never that small in game and i dont know how kojima could approve it. Im hoping its just a proto.

I wonder if the sword on Gecco Raiden is removable. Would be cool if you can switch it out with the HT figure, or better yet, buy it loose on Ebay.

Kojima and Shinkawa need to get their eyes checked. I've completely lost faith in their ability to "officially" approve figures.

Will do. I'm thinking, I may actually get it this week. Priority International is pretty swift.

Amiami got mini Snake, and I'm paying that tomorrow.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your review on Raiden. That statue looks sweet. Might have to pick one up eventually before the prices get too out of hand >__>

Do you guys mostly do museum poses with your figures? The fact that this guy has NEVER been posed other than museum worries me. I do museum on guys that are supposed to be done that way (Keaton Bats) but not on other figs. This is one of those that needs to be posed IMO. I've read horror stories about the Medicom releases, hence the reason I haven't track them down.

Will you still get it even if it ends up being a glorified statue?

I would definitely get it, but seeing the pictures, it's not like the shoulders are rubber covered with the body. You can still do a myriad of poses with it. And then the body has that cut between the chest and abs. That's better than most of the releases so far already. Knees have that double joint, ankles can be pivoted according to protos. The only thing that would hinder anything would be the rubber arms. Even then, my Thor has no problem being posed. Just gotta mind the arms and pose it so that it does look natural.

So this is definitely a go for me. And if the sword is too damn small, I'll just sheathe it and do CQC poses.

I think the sword-ready Sam pose ("Let's dance") should be easy enough to pull off even with the rubber arms. Given how I'm probably displaying this with his sword anyway, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Movement from the waist down doesn't seem like it'll be an issue. The arms, however, are entirely open for debate. What this figure has going for it is a fantastic, jaw-dropping face sculpt and the fact it's from Hot Toys. Against, inaccurate colours, underscale or otherwise woefully inappropriate accessories (an assault rifle? really?) and what I and most other fans of the game would consider an essential accessory being relegated to 'exclusive only, manufactured scarcity tax please' territory.

I'd like to believe that the delay and radio silence is Hot Toys taking on board feedback about these issues and working to fix things ahead of release, but honestly that's probably wishful thinking.

I honestly suspect the only reason the VGM line exists is because Hot Toys don't want any potential competitors sneaking into an untapped marketplace for high-end 1/6 figures, but at the same time they don't really care about video games. It feels like they're just going through the motions with some of these releases, they're technically solid but don't seem to have the same amount of thought and attention to detail that figures from films and other source material Howard and the team love put into them.

A bit late, but i saw this and decided to pop in and tell you that the assault rifle is the "AM MRS-4" From MGSV: Ground Zeroes (Its a fictional combination of multiple weapons), Raiden was in an extra mission, "Jamais Vu" for that game, and instead of his sword, he used that rifle.

So, yeah, there actually is a reason why he has an assault rifle in this package.

Also, color wise, while it is still a bit off, and im too lazy to actually check ingame right now, but i think he was based on the Fox Engine Raiden, as in the one in Ground Zeroes, as it has a higher quality to the actual Revengeance model, and if my memory serves me right, the Ground Zeroes one actually does differ in color slightly.

We knew that but thanks anyway. We were just mad because no one will ever use this accessory, there were much better choices that that. Ninjas dont have a use for guns.

True, but they do have a use for guitars

Ofc there are a ton of other accessories they could've substituted but oh well. I actually don't mind the rifle all that much though- gives the option to make him look more "tactical" . But im honestly surprised they didn't include a watermelon. That seemed pretty essential.

The rifle accessory doesn't make any sense at all, I can't even remember it being used in Rising. A watermelon or even the nifty acoustic guitar would have been better choices.

Sombrero and poncho :lecture

Seriously, I hope Asmus or somebody similar puts that out as an accessory pack if this figure ever sees the light of day.
