Well being that Disney now owns Marvel, they ultimately are responsible for marvel, plus they have to power to do thing like this..

Yes, but Disney doesn't have a track record for things likes this. From what I know about their business practices, they acquire a company and as long as said company makes money, they let them operate as usual.

It does seem like Marvel is dicking around with merchandise to hurt Fox. As someone who loves DOFP and has seen it several times, it sucks to not be getting figures from it. I know I can and will be bashing a 70s Logan but I want more.

:goodpost:

Whatever happened to the first class Xavier figure? It was shown, then nothing?

Bet Disney/Marvel prevented it from being released.

ONE hawkeye toy is too many!!! lol. I love marvel to death but im sick of everyone now talking **** about spiderman and xmen (the franchises that made the superhero genre what it is today after batman, superman and blade) and praising the likes of Hawkeye, thor and loki and even ironman like they can do know wrong and make quality products since there under marvel. Xmen DoFP was better than half the marvel films that came in the past 2 yrs and yes I liked it better than winter soldier but thats just me. ( No hate for CA at all).
I love ironman and I think thor and Hawkeye are ok but putting them above an iconic group such as xmen that made marvel is silly.

:exactly: :clap

Fricken Black widow has had three figures and will get a fourth for Avengers 2 and fifth if she's in Cap 3 but still no Xavier or Magneto :slap

well Amazing Spiderman 2 was pretty bad

Still deserves figures over characters who've had several already

I thought Marvel/Disney still make money off of Spider-man merchandise, I don't think it's the same for Fox though. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

No your right, thats why spiderman has all his toys coming out, Sony worked out a deal with Marvel, now theres rumors Spidey might join the Avengers in A3, interestjng

Spider-Man is so much better on his own, but I think the Avengers need some more history and more characters before Spidey joins. Ala, New Avengers. I would rather see Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Mockingbird, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Wasp, and many many more before the likes of Spidey and Wolverine join. I wouldn't mind him being part of the universe BUT don't make him an Avenger just yet.

Probably not part of the official team, but maybe make an appearance and help them out or something

That, I would be fine with as well. But like I said, don't make him an Avenger till you get some history with the Avengers team, and then bring in Spidey as a member when they decide to do something like New Avengers.

Not to be Debbie Downer here, but honestly if we're talking about toys/action figures, exactly which characters from DOFP would appeal to children? I don't really see that many kids buying Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, etc. At least not compared to Spiderman/Electro, Captain America/Winter Soldier/Falcon, Star Lord/Groot/RR.

IMO just because they're not making toys of the characters from DOFP doesn't mean that Disney/Marvel is out to intentionally hurt Fox/Sony. My 8 year old lives and breathes super heroes and I really don't see him getting nearly as excited for DOFP stuff as he would for Cap/Spidey/GotG stuff.

He would buy some toys, but he really knows his super hero characters. Most kids don't. Plus, there are SOOO many characters in DOFP (as was First Class) I think it's more difficult for kids to get attached to any one character. And the main two characters are just guys in clothes (Prof X and Magneto) for most of these movies.

Just my opinion, probably not as well educated as Liefelds.

Now I know us adults would be more interested, but again, to the same extent as Spidey/Cap/Iron Man?

I would think the companies would make whatever they think is going to sell?

If they can make Winter Soldier sell to kids they can sell Wolverine, Iceman, Storm, Blink, Colossus, Warpath, Sunspot, Mystique and Sentinels sell to them. Plain clothed Professor x and Magneto wouldn't sell but the majority would.

Not a rumour just opinion of Rob Liefeld

Ahem. :wave

Don't know about your kid, and maybe he's no X-Men fan, but I still remember loving the frick out of Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto figure from the old ToyBiz line when I was a kid. In this regard it's not just about "what sells", it's about what the studios want to show off as "the thing" that kids should go for, and DOFP is getting the short end of the stick of this in terms of Marvel merchandising. Which makes it all the more disappointing with DOFP since now that we finally got a Magneto that's very true to the spirit of the character, kids and adults won't even get a single figure of him in comparison to the heavy marketing that McKellen's Magneto got way back.

So there's gonna be no DOFP figures because Marvel is shutting out all X-Men merchandise because they don't like FOX.

I hate FOX as well but there's no need to let the X fans suffer

So I am right here, Fox has the movie rights to X-Men and makes money form any merchandising but can't/won't make any merchandising themselves. Marvel can make the merchandise or licence it out but won't because it makes more money for Fox than for them...does that about sum it up?

So we are left in the position that Hot Toys can't make figures from the movie because Marvel won't sell them a licence?

I would assume also that Marvel/Disney is/has put presure of some sort on Hot Toys not to produce any figures form "X Men First Class" to which Hot Toys has a licence? which would be strange considering they sold the licence in the first place.

Or is it all just because Hot Toys don't like the X-Men?

To be honest it's all rather confusing.

It was said years ago that HT had the license to all Marvel movies, and can make what they want. This was before Marvel Studios launched.

It's a huge fail if they don't make at least Magneto.
