didnt take that into consideration, so i agree with that; What do you think the reason behind the price hike is then?

The cost of materials, oil is going up which increases the costs of both plastics as well as fuel used to transport materials, etc., wages increasing, general cost of living as well as a widening profit margin. If I can get more for something, why not charge more? HT is a business and businesses are in business to make money. They're not in business to make friends and pamper freeloaders and cheapskates. It's harsh, but that's business. But all too often we see collectors *****ing at companies and hating on product for no other reason than they can't afford it.

These "how long is a piece of string" arguments are stupid, get some facts first and then you can talk specifics about HT business affairs. This thread appears to be just another HT hater/propaganda thread... :slap:lol

You can still pick up lots of HT figures for waaay less than $200.

I was lookin at gettin a Nick Fury on ebay $209.99 USD, aus ebay conversion said it would be $206, double checked with paypal, theyre conversion is at 0.92 cents which worked out to be waaay over at $227.
Now tell me how that **** works!!
ebay says one thing paypal says another.
isnt our dollar sitting at 1.03 now?
****s me!!

That's how PayPal makes their money, asides from charging the usual 4%. PayPal is bigger than eBay in terms of revenue now :lol

You can check the option to have your bank do the conversion instead of paypal. Doesn't mean you'll get a much better rate, though, but you might. Ebay probably uses the "average" exchange rate, whereas banks use the "sell" rate which is slightly worse. Paypal's is usually even worse than that.

IMO yeah its highly unethical and is skirting being fraudulent.

Ebay and Paypal are the same company and are heavily connected with Ebay directly pushing everything to go through Paypal.

So you see Ebay's conversion rate, make a decision to buy and then get charged a different rate (always in their favor) when paying for your product.

I'm not even arguing that Paypal should give you a better rate. Just make the rate on ebay consistent so the user can see exactly what they're going to pay.

Disgusting behaviour IMO.

i'm new here but thank god i'm only interested in the batman and superman stuff. although I'm still on a takara batman begins and I have the hot-toys TDK batpod, a keaton batman on the way as i type this. and hathaway catwoman next year, a tumbler at the end of september this year according to play.com(don't understand the controversey about the relaunch it's good for me) and the burton batmobile next year. although if they release that giant bat (i don't think they will) i may have a problem finding room for it. also the camo tumbler that'll be it for me. not really into marvel. although the iron man figures look extremely cool. I have gold coins too. which for those of you that think big plastic toys are a good investment. a 22karat gold proof soveriegn will always be worth more than a 3kg or whatever weight it is hunk of plastic batmobile. for investments i suggest gold coins. for pretty to look at ornaments obviously hot toys are more pleasing to that child in us all. just my opinion, i hope to here yours too.

Well no one ever said 3kg of plastic was worth as much as gold. However it was raking people in money of up to and over a $1000. Whether it was right that a toy should cost someone that much to buy or not is another question. But the fact is some people were willing to pay that.

Are HT good investments now? No. Because of the rereleases and oversaturation. But they weren't half bad as such at one point.

edit- Just to clarify I personally never bought anything to resell.

Or and also invest in Silver

Gold and Silver is REAL Money

fiat paper is the illusion of money

I just think that I would never be able to get my money's worth out of another Hot Toys purchase. I wouldn't consider myself "cheap" but then ...who would...there is just no rational explanation for another Hot Toys at the going price.

I say more power to Hot Toys for picking a business model to follow and Thank You for the many laughs in the future.

I dunno. I have been after a Two Face for ages. eBay et al is no good for me. Found one in Shanghai yesterday that I could actually get in contact with. Costing about twice the original price. Still, it's half the price that I saw going for on eBay last night .

That makes me ULTRA-LOL. Retailers were dumping that guy for $85 not that long ago.

Should've saved mine for just a bit longer, and sold it for a tidy sum.

That's because it's only one of the two that they haven't re-done.

The whole of the Colonian Marines, AVP Preds, Dutch and Billy, Watchmen, Reeve Superman, Blade and Whistler, T-1000, and umpteen other releases disagree with your whiny statement. But then given the sheer number they haven't re-released surpasses the count of your fingers and piggies, I'm not the least bit surprised you'd stop at 2. :lol

^ ugh, i was stating that the REASON it's alot more money is because it's the only version made! They go for more generally than ones that have multiple versions :lecture

How is that whiny?

And stop stalking my posts :pfft:

Don't like what i have to say, thats fine, put me on ignore.

Nothing gives you the right to police my posts with your trollish behaviour and crude tongue

For the record, i was responding to anothers post here explaining to him why prices are so high on the Two-Face he's looking for.

I didn't say the reason was positive or negative, i was simply relating to him why the price is likely high.

That was before Nam jumped on my back with his bullying diatribe unrelated to that

I have just as much a right to call you out on your blatant idiocy as you have to troll it. Chew on that bit of fat in between Bon Bons. Stop posting your whiny dribble and I stop quoting your whiny dribble. It's that easy Chiquita.
