Horrible idea releasing the Tumbler again, just horrible.

Out of all the discussions here this one makes sense.:lecture Great for new hobbyists but if it has no modifications or anything different from the previous this is a true re-release.:wink1:

That's a terrible idea... Why not pay the secondary market price so we can support speculators???:slap

Joke:peace
:lol

2nd hand market want ridiculous amounts for the Hot Toys Predator 2.

I went to Hong Kong just at the start of the year and one store wanted HK$4500.

= AUS $545 / US $580

I was told when the figure was first released it was HK$500.

= AUS $60 / US $64

Sky-rocketed HK$4000.

Last one sold today for $350 on ebay... S___! What are people complaining about??? They made more then enough profit...

Enjoy your re-releases, I know I will:yess:

For some one who got into collecting so late in the game, I have to admit all the re-releases sounded great at first. I always dreamt of getting a shot at owning a tumbler, but I have to agree with Blkinterceptor. The fact that there are no upgrades is ridiculous. In my opinion Hot Toys is becoming egotistical. Prices are getting to the point of insulting and quality has a tremendous amount to be desired. I think they are just getting to big for there own good (or rather for our on good). But hey, good for them. Isn't that the idea of most businesses? I for one am jumping ship. Found a company I am really enjoying top to bottom....3A:exactly:

Now that you are getting a chance to own a Tumbler, why suddenly was it important to have upgrades? Were you never happy with it as it was originally released?

i agree with no new changes , old owners do not need to shell out another 500$ to buy a new one, i would be pissed if they re released a new one with some minor changes if i had already the old one

A few upgrades are the only leg HT has to rest on. If this Tumbler's exactly the same as the first, there could definitely be an issue brewing.

They made an exception here, as I personally hoped they would, as I stood to be left with an inferior version of a piece I couldn't realistically repurchase if they improved it. That would have left a bad taste in my mouth after my having supported them the first time out on what was at the time a risky piece. ''Gee thanks HT, it feels so good that I have the outdated batmobile while others get rewarded with a superior version for being late to the party'' Thankfully they either just didn't wanna spend any extra money revamping it or they recognised that anyone who missed the first one would be just as happy getting the very same one they released before that they were drooling over in people's collection photos.

Generally though, I'd say figures that need to be upgraded will be upgraded so we probably won't have to worry about that.

Well, that's certainly one way to look at it. I swear, this topic has no right answer. So many different perspectives and they all vary from person to person, depending on their situation or the specific item involved. HT's clearly taking a chance and you can even see the myriad responses on their Facebook album for this Tumbler re-release. Love it or hate it, the company will most-likely come through, though.

:lecture I'm fairly inconsistent on it. Yes I want upgraded figures of worthwhile characters that really need it but at the same time I can see where guys like Nam are coming from about destroying integrity and harming people's ability to buy new figures in the way that they have been, therefore HT kinda shooting themselves in the foot.

From HT business persective why should there be a difference between upgrading and releasing a new Tumbler and upgrading and releasing a new Predator 2. There may well not be. I can only speak from a customer perspective with a bit of selfish bias thrown in. If they had upgraded the Tumbler that would have p!$$ed me off. A straightforward rerelease I can handle and I'm glad that appears to be what they're doing. I contradict myself though because something like ED-209 is also a large grail piece and yet I think I could stomach buying that again if it had new moving parts etc. I just don't know.

Plus we all know the P2 is in dire need of an upgrade. HT really is turning out to be quite the unpredictable company. Guess all we can do is sit back and watch how high they set the bar with each new version (if this indeed becomes a pattern; still not convinced because they had subtle differences and alibis for the IM line). Going to be an interesting few years. 2012 alone will be insane.

Which may be another point - so much coming out, them branching into 1/4 too. They could be their own worst enemy with their own products competing against each other. In 2012 I may have to be more selective than I've ever been before.

They better be sure they have enough new fans to pick up the slack of old collectors that they're overwhelming or pricing out.

Hot Toys aren't limited edition collectibles

Right...:wink1: For the genius who didn't read I collect them because I enjoy them not for the title of "limited". Don't forget to write it down so you won't forget:slap

If your that upset for putting out $125 on an inferior, out of date figure that you can't sell anymore.:monkey2 I'll buy you one but since I don't buy my figures (ass umed by you), I'll wait till your sister comes over and I'll get the money from her:wave
