How do you rank the Predator films now?

There was no "yautja" scene. Yautjas dont exsit. That is book only bull____....

Sorry, I read that term, and I want to punch a baby.

Predators species is called Yautja. Obviously they aren't really called "Predators". In the realm of the reality of the movie their species must have a name, hence Yautja.

I saw Predators last Sunday.

Overall I liked it a lot more then I thought I would.
But there were a few things that bugged me:
All those guys firing their weapons couldn't easily kill a bunch of alien dogs; and yet the Sniper could put them down with a single well placed shot? Looks like the principle of evil marksmanship was in full effect.

Predators moved like $___t. Either they'd just stand around waiting to get shot or they'd pose off and move slowly. They can't hold a candle to Kevin Peter Hall's performance.

The jungle was just too well manicured and didn't look at all natural. Also, it shouldv'e been a bit darker because of the overgrowth.

But those are minor nits I can overlook for the most part.
I loved the return to the original movie's military team scenario with a group of people who didn't have history and had to work together. The game reserve planet and the different breed of Predator were good ideas (I still prefer the Gen. engineered outcast version though). Loved the auto shotgun used by Royce. Laurence Fishburne's character was interesting and well played. And the characters on the team were well realized and interesting.
And I love the set up for another sequel.
Great movie, But still comes in third for me.
  1. Predator
  2. Predator 2
  3. Predators
  4. AVP Requiem
  5. AVP

I believe Celticp completely dismisses anything form the expanded universe

Well, I have always loved the two original the best, but always thought they gave City Hunter too much screen time for hunting humans. Enjoyed AVPR more than AVP for Wolf being a lone Pred. Love this new one for keeping the preds invisible for as long as they did, among many other reasons. Overall, my Predator Ranking stands thus:
P1, Ps, P2, AVPR, AVP

which movie was that in?

Some how it being a in a movie makes it more real then in text.

Welcome to America!

It's not like the comics or whatever are renaming them, clearly they are called something, so until on screen they say oh hey I found out what these things are called, they are called Boggy mc woggys or whatever, I think calling them by their comic/book name is acceptable.

"Yautja" still isn't a proper scientific name. Might as well just call them "Predators"....

Predator has no official canon universe outside the movies.
you're thinking of Star Wars maybe. common mistake.
it's fine to just call them "predators". or, hunter/ugly mother____er/demon/____ing alien/_____ face if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I believe the name "Yautja" was invented by Steve Perry for his novel adaptation of the first AVP comic series. I don't remember them being called that in the comics Machiko just called them Hunters and Killers respectively. But that has nothing to do with the main topic just my two cents.

I like how some people here think their opinion matters over whats written or done, some people say AVP movies aren't cannon just because they don't like them. It's fine to call them predators and also fine to call them Yautja. in fact I prefer Yautja because when saying that word there is no mistaking what you're talking about. Predator is a such a common word, actually one thing that urks me about the series, wish they were commonly called something else, here hoping Yautja catches on.

like i said, Predator has no canon universe outside the movies. that's an observable fact, not my opinion.
everything else is essentially fan fiction. and most of that contradicts itself because the writers have no official guidelines.

so, you can call predators whatever you want. but you might as well make up your own word if you don't care about what is or isn't canon.

1. PREDATOR - classic, my #1 all-time

2. PREDATOR 2 - wonderful sequel, one of my all-time favorite sequels

3. AVP - yes, this film stinks of Paul WS Anderson but the story is creative and fun. MUCH BETTER WRITING than PREDATORS. The entire film is very average, it offers some GREAT scenes., the pyramid scene(s) & where Predator spears the Queen's head are my personal favorites.

4. AVP-R - If this film didn't have the PREDALIEN, it would be ranked higher...the brief scene on the home planet was awesome.

5. PREDATORS - I saw the film for a 2nd time last night and it's a bigger pile of trash than the first time around. The film OFFICIALLY DIES when FISHBOURNE's character is introduced. This is the JURASSIC PARK 3 of the PREDATOR Franchise...easily the weakest. Wayy toooo many similarities to the first film to be considered a serious film, A MAJOR LET DOWN.

1). Predator
2). Predators - this could move down one after I see it the 2nd time.
2A). Predator 2 - there were a lot of cool things this movie brought to the table (clan, trophy display, new take on the Pred)
4). AVP:R - Liked the Wolf
5). AVP - if done right this could have been higher but Paul W.S. Anderson didn't do it right.

He screws up everything he puts his mitts on, still better than Uwe Boll tho.

Well, maybe if more people cared about Predator, they would.

But they dont. So Predator will probably never get a huge budget.

Transformers will get 100 million bucks because it sells. People go see that movie, and it's sequels break records.

Predator films are seen, and then they fizzle out. Which is why both the AvP movies werent massive hits. They werent flops, but they didnt do well enough that Fox gives the franchise more money.

Since this one is doing OK...and actually was well recieved...i'm sure the budget will go up.

But it all depends on how Fox feels about the franchise, and script.

It’s going to take a Christopher Nolan type Predator/Alien reboot/sequel. To make Hollywood realize that audiences want a good story and acting in their horror films. Once that happens the floodgates will open and we will start seeing more effort and money put into the horror genre.

It also doesn't help that they havent hired any real action stars in the lead in the past few films. Who wants to watch The Pianist fight predators? How about Bruce Willis or someone that is actually fits into this type of role?

Ridley Scotts Alien prequels seem to be the only hope atm. But his last few films have sucked hard, and word is the prequels will now be in 3D. So who knows how they will turn out :dunno
