Re: New forum rule

This does sound like sad news. So, please explain it to me like I'm a 4 year old, but does this mean that artists like Serang, Rainman, Sovereign Studios, to name a few, can no longer offer their work here for sale?

If this is true, that's too bad. I always looked forward to their work. As a matter of fact, in the next few weeks I was planning on offering my next headsculpt, based on a very popular actor. I guess that won't happen.

Sad times, indeed :(

Re: New forum rule

I've also a question, just to understand it right and don't make any mistakes here. When I really want a headsculpt and I've contacted and artist, like Z e.g., and there is a need of 10 users who wants a head to start this commission, can I still open up here a thread, tell the publicity "if you want a xyz-head, just send me a pm" to collect those interested people? Or would this be also illegal?

And clothes-commissions are okay? And what about the already started "interest"-threads? will they be shut down or are they still allowed till they're finished with the final-product?

No, that's not what it means.

First - 1/6th customizers can proceed as before, there is no need for them to worry about this.

If a 1/6th portrait (original, not a recast) has already been produced and cast and is offered for sale - that's great - we encourage that.

The guys producing 1/6th figures in their basement are also fine and can discreetly sell their customs here. However if it's an item that a collectibles company has a license for - then I might ask them to not solicit it for sale to large groups.

Re: New forum rule

IMO if they aren't allowed anymore, then maybe one/some of the mods should just go shut them all down now/soon?

I don't want to be misled into participating in a thread if its just going to be shut down at some later date anyway.

Seems like the whole "commission" section might as well get a lock now since thats the point of the whole section.

Re: New forum rule

Okay can someone clarify something here?....

In the event that I want to buy for example... a Resculpted Ripley Headsculpt from Darren is that type of behavior allowed?...

Cause the Ripley head is finished and not a commissioned project also.... but it is also a unlicensed copy of Hot Toy's ALien License.... so WTF.... I don't get it.

Commissions that are in process are still okay.

The scenario you describe above about sending you a PM is also okay.

Clothes commissions, cane commissions, glasses, domes, etc. are all okay.

Re: New forum rule

sounds like a lot of us are freaking out over nothing cause there doesn't seem to be a lot thats not okay...

all I can think of that you are outlawing is the recent influx of 1/4 marvel offerings which if you just killed them individually hardly anyone would have noticed...:lol

Okay thanks for clarification! So it's not that bad as I thought :sick
So you're only going to "hide" those commissions and comments like "Put me on the list" etc?

I mean,..., the head for example isn't done and I'm only asking the people here if they want a head from the artist "x" to send me a pm... it's like those interest-threads, but just keeping them clean and everything else will work through the pms...

Could you increase then the allowed number of pms for every user? :D

Re: New forum rule

one thing I'm tired of is seeing third parties create threads offering someone elses services. used to be chris howes now its this Z guy? Why cant these people speak for themselves?

Yes, they are really 2 separate issues, and I have now separated them. The rules about no Interest threads is primarily to avoid another Chris Howes type debacle.

Obviously "Z" is not Chris Howe - but his large commission list is starting to look like Howes'.

I don't understand what's happened with the Chris Howes incident, but I'm curious to find out what did. I didn't join the site to sell items, because I usually do that on Ebay. But eventually I wanted to take some commissions for 1/6 sculpts that I could paint fairly well. I also wanted to see if others were interested in some of my custom made clothing accessories that my 1/6 figures are wearing, and so I thought others may want it for their figures. But I guess not anymore. I still think it's been crazy how this has turned into a sales sight and not so much a place to display your collection. I guess this is why this rule is in effect now?

How it was being done with people paying money far, far in advance of anything being created was just a bad business model. That's what I'm trying to prevent.

Makes sense now. Seems like a potential scammers wet dream to get money in advance and not have to deliver it for months out; no one here of course. Probably will hurt honest customizers though, but hopefully they canget around that in pm's, and then when work is complete, sell the extras. May even make some customs more valuable if more limited and not open orders years out.

Re: New forum rule

What if they change the name? Like EC's awesome custom of the "White Haired Magician"? :monkey1

That's good news! Thanks for the clarification.

One more question, does this new rule effect people like averone who recently offered a beautiful Batman statue and the upcoming Capt. America staue?
