:lol I read ''EU'' and thought ''expanded universe''! I didn't know what you were talking about. Alien 3 isn't ''expanded universe'', its actual film canon!!

Anyway - European Union. I ordered from Sideshow shortly after it went up and received mine about a month ago now, I'm in Ireland. You'd best email them.

Makes you appreciate Medicom's Alien all the more.
Sure, the paint flakes off, but no sign of wear and tear and no breakage reported yet.
And it's accurate... shame about the size.

Ok, fact: The Dog "Runner" has its inaccuracies. However, it is lightyears ahead of the ALIENS Warrior we got.
At least it's OBVIOUS which creature the sculpt is based upon. The WARRIOR might as well have been from AVP:R for all we care.

With that: Is HOT TOYS aware of the uproar that will ensue following the release of an inaccurate ALIEN "Big Chap"? Their Predator 1 looks almost dead-on, but if Giger's Alien isn't at LEAST that accurate some Alien fans are gonna' have a fit... & honestly, the same will go for the Queen for many of us...

they won't care about any "uproar" because they know collectors will buy it whether it's accurate or not.
the aliens warrior and dog weren't screen accurate and you people still shelled out $140 for them.
no incentive = no improvement.

In all honesty, I think HT is simply too lazy to put 100% accuracy into an alien fig.
They know it will sell anyways, so they just say "to hell with it".
However, if they decide to make a $400-$500 Queen alien, it better damn well be accurate.
I'm not spending that kinda dough on a halfass Queen.

As for the BIG CHAP, if it doesn't look 100% I might still get it as it'd fit right in with the rest of their figures.

Of course, all true.

I am pretty broke right now, though, so I'm making it LOOK like I'm not interested in their recent products, when in reality I'm DYING to get my hands on them if I can just get the funds...
I NEED the Predator, however, & I'm still crossing my fingers that we'll get a BIG CHAP that's all prettied up in a DX Edition w/ interchangeable "Warrior" feet, arms, head, hands, etc. or something (& ANYTHING "DX" from the ALIEN franchise better come w/ an Egg, Chestburster, & Facehugger, at LEAST one of each... I want an army of Facehuggers...)

Thanks! I'm calling them today!

Edit: I had forgotten that they had the figure on hold so they could combine it with an other order for me... All good, I just need to wait a little longer.

Don't spray tamiya clear gloss over this figure. The gloss is only used for plastics and hard materials not soft rubbery materials. Your hot toys aliens is going to have clear cracks. Also , tamiya uses has two different clears. Acrylic and enamel. Stay clear from these products on any soft plastics. The guy that probably sprayed to get a clearer gloss is probably using movie prop clear flats that use on movie prop costumes.

No, he used 6 coats of a 60/40 mix of tamiya clear gloss and alcohol ran through an air brush at 20 psi.

should I even get the Dog? sounds like it's nothing but problems.
as always, it's up to you as a collector in the end. there's always the argument that nobody else is making 1/6 alien figures.
but if you do, and the a1 big chap ends up looking/breaking just as bad, you'd be on shaky ground coming here and complaining about it.
just sayin'.

but, it's an easy pass for me.

I don't give a shat about the leg being hard to put on, but I wonder if the tears that have showed up have to do with the stress that the owners put on it getting the leg on. not inherently a flaw in the rubber. :dunno

I was pretty rough with my Dog Alien and there was not even the slightest concern for me that i was going to rip anything..make sure when you put the leg on, not to have the leg all bent up..extend it a tad to relieve stress on the joints and rubber..i used a knife and just circle cut over and over in the leg joint and then kept trying to fit the leg on the body..it eventually went in, i suggest when you get the figure to first thing grind the leg joing hole for a min then try fitting it, will reduce any chance of you ripping anything dramatically.

Well, I just went and took a look at my Alien again.
Looks A-OK to me.

I think you're correct about the owners putting too much stress on the figure, over posing the legs, or maybe the figures were really defective to begin with.
Well, all I can say is that it's my 2nd favorite alien by HT.
(AVP being the best)
No cutting or trimming was needed.
