I just received the hatless SS Indy head from Paul Carson (thanks Paul).
First time I've seen it in hand.

First impression is that the accuracy of the likeness is MUCH better on Trev's SS Indy head. Straight out of the box (even with the bad paint apps), this thing is a far superior Ford sculpt. I wish that I'd have felt the same way about the HT head when I opened the box.

In my opinion, the only thing which HT's wins on is the skin texture which is lacking from the SS head. This lack of texturing makes the SS look more "plastic".

I would love to see one of these SS heads painted up in the HT style. I think if people saw them side by side with equal quality paintjobs - there would be no doubt that Trev nailed Ford's likeness much better than the Arnie Kim version.

I tried to put the Sovereign Studios jacket, but doesn't quite fit... and the sleeves are too long...

How "too long" are they?
I ask cause over on Indygear, they suggest a sleeve that goes to the first knuckle of the thumb (for 1:1 scale) as thats how Ford's jacket was in the film.
If it's significantly longer than that, then yeah.. too long.

With the arms by the sides, to the first knuckle of the thumb is right. Slightly baggy sleeves. It is these nuances that create the look of the Raiders jacket. And the look of a great Raiders figure :wink1:

Take a pic of that when you get a chance, Kuzeh. Here's a pic of mine and I was under the impression the length was about right.

From what d-jedi and Tyderium mentioned I think it looks about perfect.

Got my second set, headsculpt has a bad paint rub on the nose. But the shape of the head is better than my first.

:(

QC HT?

Sorry to see that.
Can you post a side by side pic of both heads? What's the difference? (1 fat, 1 thin?)

Chris

Well yes, I can categorically now say that these heads are different. Maybe it's the way they are being pulled from the molds?

Anyway, unfortunately this will have to go back.

:gah:

Wow!, That Indy looks really, really nice!! The futzing, the pose, the jacket look like quintessential Indy - just about perfect! :clap

It's all about tilting the had down and slightly to the right!

Loving your pics toylion!

Do you think you have a slightly different head there then Rorywan?

I am gonna hopefully have time later to bust out the diorama and get that opening scene on the go.

Anybody elses hat brim a little crooked in the front? It's starting to really irritate me. :(

I've got to admit that I don't understand where people are coming from with this thought that the hat looks best when tilted. Ford never wore his hat crooked in that "Humphrey Bogart" style in the movies so why do people think the figure should be wearing the hat like that? :dunno
It makes him look like he's about to start singing and dancing!

I'll snap a pic to show it

Mine looks definitely longer than that...
Awesome display Coco!!

Thank you. Is that hat or head? Because I don't have the hat tilted. As far as if I have a different head, I ccan tell. I have two head actually, Regular Indy and the Map Room Indy, and both look the same to me. :dunno
Looking forward to your photos.

This figure looks great in some pics and odd in others. I'm new to this thread and was thinking of picking one of these up. Why are so many people disappointed in this figure?

Yeah ours is a little crooked... anybody else have this problem? I could tell there was some similar issues on a couple fedoras listed on eBay, but the others photos were too small to really tell.

Here's what i'm talking about:

That's where the hat was removed from the mold process. I guess some where just ripped from the hat instead of being carefully cut. Mine looks better then others. But you can still see it a little ragged.

Just notice, you can see the paper clip under the collar in this photo.

Only ever ever so slightly now. Just because it looks cool.
Nobody will make you do this though so don't worry! ;)

OK, scratch that!
Coco is right... the problem is that I hadn't futzed the sleeves enough so that they sit on the shoulders right...
I still need to futz quite a bit more,
pics coming!
:rock!
