Just got the figure in. My honest assessment below with some cell phone pics. Straight out of the box with just a little jacket futzing........

This figure really does look like Ford from some angles and then not

These are the photos and angle/s I think capture Harrison Ford when looking at the figure in hand.

Nice work wofford29. Looking at the first couple of pics, the scale/proportions of the o/all figure from neck down is just PERFECT along with the fedora. I really like this figure and it's arriving Tuesday for me. I have also bought some additional parts for a second figure to go with the map room due in a few months. If only that damned HS was closer. This would have been epic in my very humble opinion.
At the very least, a future improved head HS from HT's will make this epic for me. Just have too wait for epicness:impatient:

His Nathan Fillion is spot on. Not sure what you mean by that.

anyways I'm pretty sure Marf was just saying that as a joke because his sig says "Trevor Grove fanboy"

Indy should be in hand within a few hours!

What I meant was it is not 'spot on". I have seen and studied that sculpt in person and it's not even close. Your mileage may vary.

No, no, just sayin'. I know I'm a grown man and can make my own decisions :)D) just threw that out there in case there were others planning to get parts that hadn't done the math.

Just adding to that, I've recently done the same thing for my future map room display. The boxed figure cost me about $285 incl shipping to Australia through SS. The additional stuff I bought (head, DX05 body, bag, boots/socks & pants cost about $210 shipped. Not super cheap either, but ok by me:).

So, you're asserting that everyone else who has it in-hand but is happy with the figure was being dishonest or is incapable of being critical?

:lol Man, I love this place.

I merely meant that he can actually attest to the negatives we have been seeing in pictures. He has confirmed from his first hand experience what we can only judge in pictures. And yes, it does seem that some of the people that have it have been very forgiving with their critiques. It also helps us people on the fence to hear both sides of the argument!

And I appreciate Wofford's account that spoke of both the positives and negatives of the figure.

So there.

I would like to also reiterate something about my review. Some people seem to have taken it as a negative, others as a positive, and some for what it is, an abbreviated opinion of the pros and cons of which there are plenty. As I stated, if I was to only own one Indiana Jones figure from what is currently available, this would be the one (despite any likeness issues). Having said that, this certainly isn't the end of what many consider to be an ongoing pursuit of a great Indiana Jones collectible. It's certainly a step in that direction, but the quest continues.

edit: I will say that for those of you who owned the original Toy's McCoy Indy, and I mean when it came out, not after lots of other options existed. I kind of got that same feeling with this one. It's presentation just feels special and there was so much unknown about this damn thing going into actually seeing it yourself. It really makes you feel like you own the only Indy collectible worth owning. Reality does eventually set in though. :lol

:goodpost: There are too many people that want to make this a Yaysayer vs. Naysayers, and that's just not the case. Some of us will buy it for what it is, the best Indy available at the moment. As Wofford says, "It's presentation just feels special and there was so much unknown about this damn thing going into actually seeing it yourself." The name of the thread is, Re: HT DX05 - Indiana Jones - in-hand images. And that's what should be getting post and how those that have it in hand feel about it. All the photo shopping and judging on photos only was already done in the closed thread. Time to move on and start sharing in hand experience's. People saying this isn't worth the price forget you get more then just a figure. There is a heck of a lot of extras that by themselves will cost you a pretty penny. Just because you many like this, doesn't mean you think it's perfect. But until something better comes, it will have to do.

One last point on the above:

I did the math because at first I was just going to get parts for the Map Room Indy, but the ebay prices on just the arab outfit, pants, bag, shoes and body would have cost me $198... so I figured I might as well get the whole damn thing. Figured the jacket, hat, staff, shirt, head, pedestal, backdrop, pistols, etc were worth the extra $25.

Yeah, when I realized what I spent on pieces to make a second T-1000, I pretty much could have bought an entire second figure for about $8 more. It was a sad realization.

I bought the figure because I love Indy and have since I was 11 years old and saw ROTLA in the theaters, he is definitely one of my all time favorite characters. Also I was very excited that it was a Hot Toys figure as well, because I have been way impressed with all of those that I have collected. I am very happy with my Indy here, I love the way it looks on my shelf as part of my ever growing collection of Hot Toys, hopefully others will feel the same way, but if not that is fine with me. I am just here to share and to hang out with people who collect and share this madness. Personally I really like this particular figure and will get great enjoyment out of it, sure I feel a little bit disappointed if someone else doesn't like the look or build of it, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, different strokes for different folks and all of that. I do not want to be known as a Yaysayer or Naysayer, but I like sharing my opinions if asked or answering a question if I am able. Enough rambling on to more of the figure. :monkey1

If Hot Toys really nails a great likeness with a TOD or LC Indy and it comes out I will be floored with the results! I think this will probably happen down the road sometime. Then we'll definitely have a figure that is universally praised I am sure.

Well said Craze...you seem like a very level-headed guy. I feel exactly the same way.

:goodpost: :exactly:

Some collectors will buy just about anything HT puts out, like Dastan or Perseus. I'm selective and stick with only characters I love that are also well done. Indy isn't executed as well as most HT figs, but I just happen to love the character more than just about any other, main OT SW characters being the lone exception and possibly Reeve Supes.

I think we are alike in many ways.

One of my favorite pics right here. And great mini-review too, wofford.

Such an unusual figure. If I would have based my purchase on this pic it would be, without a doubt, a definite buy and on other pics a definite pass.

I'm beginning to believe I ordered this simply out of morbid curiosity now. :lol

Solid base almost a hudred dollars more than what we are used to paying? For that price I want more than a base for making me buy more later on to fix their screw ups. They had time to fix a lot more than they did. I'm not trying to knock anyone who is happy with this, honestly not, or deter anyone from buying.

For me? This is not acceptable. If it cost the same I'd still be a little irritated at the lack of effort put into fixing things but for this price and the delays it took? I'm worrying for Hot Toy's future and that they might be going downhill. The recent Christian Bale batman was a huge let down... Sweeny Todd was not one of my favorites, spiderman was an improvement I'll get you that but it's been awhile since i felt the way I did about something like say. T-800.

So long as you and everyone else are still buying it, it doesn't matter to HT:huh:lol
