You answered your own question. The Avengers happened. They never offically revealed either to us so neither should have reasonably been expected before any Avengers figures. They'll eventually show up after Avengers hype has died down.

About time. Might as well skip right to the Avengers version, though. They waited too long with the Thor movie version, IMO (assuming there are differences between the two. . .I don't really know).
