The old one looks way better with the blood, Marcus wise, even though a little more than the movie. The new smile jackson looks way better than the old one but.

Nope. It's two different sculpts wofford29.

The head is tilted even further in this official specs pic than the original poster and it STILL has a clear, definitive smile. Any angle you view the new head from it has that.

It may end up being the case, but looking at just the lips, I can't see anything that makes them different sculpturally that can't be explained away by lighting and better paint apps.

THIS IS THE UPDATED "BATTLE DAMAGED" HEAD SCULPT:

That image of the new BD Marcus head sculpt was released over a month ago, yet the display at the Tokyo Toy Show still has the old BD version.

Both those heads look the same to me, what's been changed?
edit: I just went and checked out the Marcus thread and could see the differnce from the other close up angles. That is wierd.

Yes the lower lip is different and also his chin is completely different.


Im saying I think the 'Smiling face' should just be a VIP Exclusive. Thats a solution to this problem. Even though Sideshow isn't carrying this, maybe Hot Toys could have limited mail away offer for us in the Sates

It's the angle of the eyes that are slightly different, not the smile

You can see right there that the First is so much better,the likeness is dead on.Don`t get me wrong,i don`t mind a Smiling Jackson,but imo the likeness is a little off on that one,they can still improve it though.

They are definitely not the same head, in my opinion.
The smiling head has shorter locks of hair on it’s forehead, a narrower chin, more defined cheek bones, smaller eyes (looking forward), and just a litter smaller bottom lip.

The serious head has longer locks of hair on its forehead, a smoother face, larger eyes (looking up), and a fuller looking bottom lip. It also looks to have darker shading in some areas.

Even though he is smiling a lot in the “Thriller” video I prefer the serious head, it just suits the theme more. The smiling head would suit “The Girl is Mine” or “Pretty Young Thing”, I don’t think it would look good for “Beat It” because it’s another serious song. I guess if we get the Smiling head for Thriller maybe we eventually will get the serious head for “Beat It’ though.
