Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

This figure is a wallet killer.

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

I ordered one figure from Toy Square just now. I usually only collect PF's but I just had to get this one.

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

I'm enjoying some of the news articles & posts about the figure on MJ fan boards. One news article said (before the price was known) that the price wasn't confirmed, but will most likely be $100 - $150. I had to have a little chuckle at that. :lol And, it's also interesting seeing non-collectors trying to find out more about these 'Hot Toys'....lol. "So life-like", "Is it 2 figures, or do you swap the head or what?", "How do we get these?" - I'm not trying to make fun, I just find it interesting. It's like this hobby is an alien world to them! :lol

Haha totally, but you know how many people it's going to bring to 1/6th?! Just like Heath's death did with the joker character and all other TDK figures.
Which is a good thing
BTW i notice heaps are loving just the zombie sculpt/setup/clothes. If anyone wants to save money, i'd be happy to sell all those parts off, and you'd just have to get a body. Cheap too. Normal MJ setup is the only one interesting me. Let me know

All Hot Toys figures are wallet killers, unfortunately.

Or credit-killer, in my case. Oh well.

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

If they would have made the Werewolf/Werecat thing he turned into at the beginning of the video as an interchangeable feature, I would have bought one. But I'll pass without that feature.:monkey3

Yeah, but then they'd have to do a whole new outfit too, with the letter jacket. Probably asking too much, since you'd need to have the classic red outfit with this figure.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get another version with that, though.

Yup, the werewolf version is a whole other production in it's own right. You need the outfit with the letter jacket, a normal head, one with cat eyes, then the full wolf head and hands.

Should they label it a DX set?

For the prices they're charging on their latest figures, they should all be labeled DX. They should all have those moving eyes too.

They used to be decently priced..i got my Rambo 3 from Toys2 for around $100 or like $110 and same for Hudson and quite a few of my military Hot Toys figures, and at that price with all the accessories..you don't feel bad at all that for what you pay.

If Stallone died today you'd see the same thing happen to his figures on EBay, and any dealer who still had any in stock, the prices would Sky Rocket.

On another note, I hope they use the first head on some future Michael version, it was too good not to be used.

That serious sculpt would be perfect for Beat It.

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

Posted this in the other thread but thought I'd post it in the official thread as well...

I can say with about 99% certainty that after looking at the pics from Eddie's blog the "original" sculpt is in fact the same as the one being referred to as the "new" smiling sculpt. The angle and the lighting is giving the impression of a more serious look, but when compared to the "new" head at a very similar angle, I think it's pretty clear that there aren't and never were two heads.

The one on the right is the one from the original posting. The one I posted on the left is the one that's on display at the show going on now. Are they using the old head on display and a different one for solicitations?

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

Yes, look at the hair style. Two different sculpts. The one on display at Tokyo Toy show is the original prototype

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

I don't see any difference in the hair, and I think if you tilted the head down a little lower like the one in the original poster it would look identical. I doubt they have two heads floating around, used the old one for the original poster, the new one for the solicitations, and then took the old one to the toy fair to display for everyone to see.

No look at the hair covering his forehead. One is more curly. Also the original has more 'puppy dog eyes'

Re: HOT TOYS- M ICON- MIS09- Michael Jackson (Thriller version) Spec and pics

The wigs are the same, there will be slight curling differences in a rubbery piece like that. Remember these are much smaller than the pics.

The MJ sculpts look different, though you could certainly be right wofford.

That one little curl could just be a result of casting. Besides it curling in a little more, I don't see anything different. I think the rest, including the eyes can be explained away from the lighting, angle, and the paint. My guess is they have different castings of the same sculpt with unintentional paint differences. If you tilted the head on the left in Kuzeh's comparison down as much as the original on the right, I bet it would match up. The "original" looks like a custom paint from J.C. and the other head looks like something a factory would do.

Nope. It's two different sculpts wofford29.

The head is tilted even further in this official specs pic than the original poster and it STILL has a clear, definitive smile. Any angle you view the new head from it has that.

I doubt they have two heads floating around, used the old one for the original poster, the new one for the solicitations, and then took the old one to the toy fair to display for everyone to see.

That image of the new BD Marcus head sculpt was released over a month ago, yet the display at the Tokyo Toy Show still has the old BD version.
