Well, your poll should be changed then. The question you ask is if it was a good choice/decision. That is completely different from asking whether it was what someone would be hoping for.

I know I am getting away from the toy aspect of this thread by bringing up his past, so let me leave this thread with saying "This looks like an amazing figure and I am sure that fans of MJ will be excited to have this. I like to see what kind of leaps and bounds that HT makes with every release. Sorry I pissed you off Monster, but I have an opinion also, probably not the best place to voice it.

The figures being made so its not gonna change HT making it or not but nothing wrong with finding out just how much interest there is in this figure. No offense but its a message board and people are gonna gripe about figures being made or not being made. Learn that lesson quickly or this place will be no fun. Saying some folks need help cause they wanna gripe is a bit strong. Don't ya think?

I thought it was a bad choice for the DX3. There are so many other characters people have been waiting for and could have turned out a lot better. Dont think it has enough to justify itself as a DX. Hot Toys is just cashing in on the MJ hype just like they did with TDK. Just gonna have to wait, what another 6 months, till the announce the next DX.

of course they are - but i don't see how 3 threads filled with this stuff is in any way interesting or productive. it just seems to me that it's the same few people throwing their toys out the pram coz they didn't get what THEY wanted. i think people are trying to make out that this decision by HT is massively unpopular - and they're dead wrong. people need to remember HT has an asian market too.

and i don't think it's strong to say people need help - at times i genuinely think that. i'm not defending HT at all - in fact i hated them a while back for all the damn QC issues in a lot of my figs. QC issues are fine to gripe about. but now i kinda feel for them. it seems a lot of people are getting waaaaaay too obssessive about this stuff and taking TOYS far too seriously. the way people judge HT's choices, the extent to which they get disappointed by trivial things, all the damn petitions and polls, it's too much! people need to chill! we used to be grateful for whatever HT or medicom or SS gave us. and now we're demanding more and more and more, as if it's our god-given right to get exactly what we want from these companies.

and THAT'S what's making these boards no fun - damn toy loons.

I voted bad choice but that's just because I don't want to buy it. I do find the lack of accessories to be disconcerting. Joker was a 2 in 1, Batman came with two heads (one a PERS and one a light up) with enough items for two different looks and now Mike looks more like a normal MMS (or whatever it is they call the music figures) with a DX stand a PERS. Honestly, the Thriller MJ seems like a better buy, IMO.

I dunno. I already tried to get people to give a straight answer and thought I spelled it out for them but people kept answering "it's good but only cos I can save money" or "it's good for the MJ fans" or "it's good for HT revenue" etc.

Even when I said, "Are YOU happy about HT's decision, regardless of whether you can afford the fig or not?" some people couldnt give a straight answer to a simple question. I don't know how I could have worded it without people coming at it from different angles.

well said things have never been so good for toy collectors (just think back 10 years ago what exactly was avaliable? naff all thats what well compared with todays standards anyway) I dont like the figure I wont be purchasing it but I understand why Hot toys are producing it as it'll make a ton of money so good for them as other have stated before mabey they can take some of that money and translate it into something I will buy. Its not all about me sometimes you just have to realise when times are good because if companies like HT and SS dissapeared I sure as hell know Id notice!

I've deliberalty only made it 2 options so you have to go one way or the other...If you are undecided or don't care then just don't vote at all.

Please vote honestly, none of this "it's good but only cos I can save money" or "it's good for the MJ fans" or "it's good for HT revenue". Are YOU happy about HT's decision, regardless of whether you can afford the fig or not?

Who cares if HT is cashing in... I say more power to them. The cashed in on TDK, they'll cash in on MJ and likely continuing cashing in next year on Iron Man stuff.

But they are also making other great stuff that might not be as big of a cash cow like Resident Evil, Inglorious Basterds and Mars Attacks figures.

As long as they keep the quality high and releases coming they have my support.

I loved MJ when I was younger, thriller was cool but MJ was a weird sick little man and I just don't need a toy of a pedophile, I don't care how good his music was. The figure looks nice but to give him the DX treatment, I give it the super duper PASS!!!

I am entirely with you on that one. I don't get it, and I really wouldn't want it in my house. Easy pass.

But, if people will buy it, it is more of an issue with the market than with the manufacturer. HT is just filling the demand. They'd make a Charles Manson figure if they thought it'd sell. And, like it or not, Jackson remains popular.
