HT original Predator- photo thread

freeloader, mate, thanks for your appreciation.
I've displayed this ugly m-f-r unmasked for a few weeks and it looks much more better than it was one month before repainting.

Mine just arrived. Very pleased with it!
But a stupid question, how is the Bio mask supposed to attach to his face?

You'll need to use the closed mandibles. Then just push the mask on the face and it will snap in.

Tried that but it comes off very easy. If I had designed this I would have made attachments on the mask that fits the holes for the mandibles (No need for them to be attached when you cant see them).

Well, for most people, the system's worked over the course of numerous Predator figures so HT really hasn't had incentive to figure out a different way to attach the bios. It's not ideal though, but for figures where you can't swap mandibles, I'm not sure what they could have come up with that when the mask was off, the figure didn't show the connection means and look silly.

Do you guys know if Hot Toys produces blank stands? Without logos? I want one for my Pred since I dont like the jungle stand that much... Thanks.

Yes, their True Type bodies ship with generic black stands, older ones will have the waist ring, knew ones have the kind that goes between the legs. There's no plate for a name tag on them though, just so you know.

Is the name plate detachable? (I dont own a Hot toys figure with that kind of plate yet so cant check)

I'm curious about that too. I'm sure it can come off but how much fore is needed and how do you take it off without damaging the stand's base?

I think that HT should have shipped a standard plate instead, or include both.

Fiinally got around to redoing mine.

Repainted the armour to a greenish colour, filled in the helmet damage, extended the neck with a washer, converted a grasping left hand and added a modified 'Dutch' base. Phew!

Good thing is, with that neck mod he no longer looks like the runt of the litter!

Your pics and customizations look awesome guys. I have to get me a Predator 1 now. I just wish I had gotten back into collecting prior to their initial release.

It's just the basic P2 with a modified hand, belt and a resin helmet.

Well, he looks pretty nice! ^_^ But it's unfinished figure, IMHO. Yet it's just P2 with another mask. Needs some... work to make it more special, peculiar. Maybe some beads or more gold on the armor, or unusual weaponry. But if you don't want to change P2 body and his armor - it's cool. I like the colour of the mask.

You're quite right. I am lucky enough that my 'main' P2 has had a full repaint by Les Walker, but I actually quite like the Hot Toys colour scheme as well - it's wierd but gives a pretty good impression of the Predators as they appear in the closing scenes of the film. Hence, I bought a second P2 to display as the "Bio-Helmet Predator" because it needed very little work.

Love the pose on your Celtic, BTW. Still... from that pic Machiko looks like she's the same size as Ahnuld! Talk about amazonian!
