Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

Hey everyone, I've got a problem. :(

When I came today into my room, I've recognized that my TDK-Batman was layed down on my desk. But I put him on a shelf, which is about 40cm above the desk. So he just jumped out there. :sick

My heart stops at that moment, because I really thought that something has broken, but nothing there, just two "shiny" problems.

I'll post here two pics, that you can imagine, what I mean with the "shiny" problem:

I think it's not scratched, it just shines there, when the light shines on it.
I've tried to clean this area with water, but there is no improvement. So I'm asking here everyone for some propositions, what I could make to let these shiny places to dissapear? Is it even possible?

I really need some advices, because my heart hurts evertyime I see them. :(:sick

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

Well, the first one is a scuff, if trying to use a bit of water doesn't help then the only hting is to paint it which won't work very well. I'm not experienced with this type of thing, but that looks like your only choice. Perhaps someone here has experience with scuffed figures.

Bro, same thing happened to me. Believe me, I didn't use the stand for my TDK Batman and he did his basejump off my shelf a couple of times and it hurts to see the damage. Once, he even took my She-Predator Machiko along with him! And my shelf is about 2 metres high (200 cm!) off the floor!

The paint used on the cowl, seems abit rubberized. Not sure if its the correct term to use. I had those scuff marks on my cowl, and the back of one of his ears as well as the shoulder armor. Think he jumped off the shelf, landed on the table and ricochet off the table onto the tiled floor :(

What I did was actually use a black M.A.C eyeliner pencil (women's makeup) and colored in the scuff marks. The texture after applying seems to be like oil pastels/crayons gut it seems dark enough to blend in with the actual plastic color.

The marks are less visible now. The thing is, if you keep touching the area, you might need to touch up every now and then.

Previously, I've also used this eyeliner pencil to darken the eyes around my V1 Joker.

You might want to try it out. Hope this helps.

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

I'm not sure what material the HT figures are made of but I used to have an old 12" GI Joes Snake Eyes that got that shiny looking scuff on it's forhead and all it took to get rid of it was some spit on my finger and a dry cloth rag. Again I don't know what material the HT figues are made of though so it may not work. If all else fails maybe try lightly brushing clear flat acrylic over it.

This is the reason HT provide stands.

Sorry, I know that's no help, but just saying.

I've displayed the figure 2 days with the HT stand, but after I've taken the figure from the stand, I've recognized, that the stand marked there two lines at his legs. That's the reason why i've tried it now to display him without the standing. They disappeared within ~4 days.

But just imagine, it was displayed 6 months with the stand, I think these "marks" would be branded for more than just 4 days.

I'll try the advice from Darth_Fatso later and perhaps it works. :)
And thanks Bigfoot_X for your info. It's a bit easier for me to know, that I'm not alone. ^^

But meh, I have now a battle-damaged Batman. :D

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

I have the same problem with my ori suit batman stand, it was leaving marks on the suit. I then took out the the metal 'clip' and bend it so it's not so tight but still tight enough to hold Batman without with falling.

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

Maybe try some wet and dry paper... perhaps the smoothest you can get.

Just gently rubbing it should bring it back to matte looking. I mean very gently!

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

The hot toys stand wrecked my robocops stomach too , I noticed it making marks on batmans legs and changed the way I had it. You have too be careful with them , they can save you from damage but also cause it.

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

You should either make or get something like this foam to put over the metal wires/rods.

Of course it would have to be much smaller, but you should get the idea.

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

Thanks guys for your advices!

@voudoun: Do you really think, that this would be really possible with the dry paper? I don't know, but man, it's really risky. :D

When I look at my batman, it just hurts, when I see the head. It's a gently shiny place but it's there. The chest isn't such a big problem, because with the right light, I don't recognize it.

I don't know if I should try rubbing it gently or just buy a new sculpt over ebay.

Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.

when you all are using the stand, you don't have it pushed all the way up his thighs do you? I have my stand down as far as it will go and he's standing just fine from the day I got him and there are no marks at all. these new stands are not for full on support like the older ones just enough to keep the figure in check. :D
