Working overnight tonight and tomorrow night in southeast PA. This is going to suck.

I just got home from working overnight. I told my boss that I won't be coming in tonight. I live in Cape May County. We're getting hit almost head on. So far, it's just tropical storm conditions. It's supposed to get a lot worse later, though.

Hope everyone up north does fine! Just had the storm skirt me down in Florida and it was windy as all hell for 2 days.

stay safe from sandy, freaks.

do any of you ever fear like a very windy storm like this might uproot metal signs and as you are walking that thing comes flying at you and slices you its been a fear of mine since kindergarden

That sounds like a scene from Final Destination

I love most employers thinking. My boss, "We will probably leave around 2PM".

The weather service "High damaging winds to start around 2PM". :rotfl

Makes perfect sense to me. :slap

Here in northern CT not to bad yet. Got gas for the generator, food stocked up and flashlights ready hoping its not as bad as they predict

Ugh. Sounds like my old a-hole employers. Worked in the business office of an NYC hospital so we had to follow hospital rules (you come in no matter what). So they'd have us commute in (most employees lived in Jersey, Brooklyn, SI, etc) and then dismiss us early into blizzard conditions when all the trains are delayed and over crowded.

When I rule the world, this will not happen. And my army of lions will make sure of it. :lecture

Get home safe!

I'm just hoping he kicks me in the nuts on the way out so I can thank him. :yess:

The rain and wind have stated kicking in and my wife will be heading to Philly at noon and probably be at the store for 24 hours.

Thanks Skull. Been kinda really sad this whole trip. Sucks, but it's been planned for a long time, and is part of school. I'm hoping for the best, but with potentially two full days of flights cancelled in front of mine...

Can you rent a car and travel west to take a flight out of a different city?

Will be watching what happens and thinking of all of you affected.

Stay safe folks, and try to talk sense to those bosses of yours who can't immediately see the need to preserve the well-being of their employees and that no amount of money can replace a human being. I would be willing to not get paid for the day(s) missed than take a chance out there.

No, I'm pretty busted recently. I'll just have to bunker down, as Waller says, here in Boston. If it comes to that.

Plus it looks like I'm gonna need all my money to help the pup, maybe...

Getting windy here in Boston. But I'm at a Zen Center with no TV to tell me what's up. Guess I'll have to check the Internet to find out the path. Really don't want to get stranded here. My flight is Wednesday and my puppy is sick and needs me back in Vegas...

:(

Fury...I wouldn't wait until Wednesday. I'd try to get out ASAP...or rent a car to drive to a safer place then book a flight from there -- before all the airports/rental car places close and everybody gets backed up from cancelled flights. You may not make it back until the weekend.

I have 5 days left on the year. Wife is due in December. I can't take anymore time off. :slap

IMO this will be a more frequent occurence going forward for the rest of our lives. Been saying that since Katrina.

Get used to it folks.

Picking up here. Cat is desperately trying to get under the bed but we need to keep her out in case we decide to relocate to the in-laws (just a couple blocks away but way fewer big trees around the place.).

Do you have a cat caddy? If so, Put her in there so you can grab her easily and then put that somewhere where she feels less stress...under the bed she is trying to get to if the caddy will fit.

Yeah, we've got the carrier at the ready but I don't want to coup her up since we don't plan on leaving unless it gets ridiculous (which it shouldn't here). Thanks for the tip, though! :peace
