I always avoided buying Hot Toys 1/6 Scale figures because I felt they cost too much for a plastic figure.

Recently I decided to re-visit my decision when I realized they had a Die Cast Line.

I went ahead and pre-ordered all 3 of the IM figures and now that the in hand reviews have been posted I am glad I did.

It seems that being die cast isn’t the only improvement, apparently they have better articulation.

So I’m glad I didn’t start collecting these when they first came out because I have a feeling Hoy Toys is going to re-release the original 7 Marks in die cast and I, like so many, would be trying to sell off the old figures as the new die cast versions came out.

I'm sure that will be the case, but based on Howard Chan's last interview, it doesn't seem like they have the time/resources to pursue more Diecast at this time.

And when they do decide to continue on, I'm sure the prices will be even more outrageous. At the rate they are going, there's just no way I can afford to indulge in a future Diecast line of any type.

With the Mk 42 over $300 in 2013-2014, I shudder to think what a Diecast IM1-2 reboot line would cost in 2015/2016... :(

This. And the resources that HT would need to procure to make the entire line again for a possible non seller. I rather keep my plastic marks. The only one I could really see myself getting would be a die cast Mark 1. That would be sick.

Basically you will wait around 2-3 years minimum for something that may or may not come. Worse, they may only make 3 of the 7 and quit. Then you go mish mesh figures and collections together while missing out on ever enjoying them. Plus if you want an HOA who knows what acquiring that would look like in the future. The only bad fig currently is the mark III, but for my uses I do not mind what so ever. May be different for others.

But for now........

You can wait, I'll enjoy this.:yess:

Play Imaginative is far more overpriced, has less accessories in some cases, the articulation seems to be worse from what some people have said, and they don't always have 1/6th scale.

I'm perfectly fine with my Mark VII, and I'd probably only get a few more Iron Men. Mark I or Iron Monger from Iron Man, War Machine or Milk Version from Iron Man 2 , and Iron Patriot from Iron Man 3. Along with whatever armor we get from Avengers 2.

And Hokie, that is magnificent. Kudos :hi5:

i find myself not using the accessories, i wonder how many people actually make use of them

:clap Amazing.

I'm kind of in the same boat, I've only got Mark VII from the original line up in 1/6. I don't really want to make a whole hall of armor, mostly because of current prices and how a few of the figures are now way below current standards, much less what is being established as diecast standards right now. Added to the fact that for those prices 3, 4, and 6 just aren't different enough to want all of them, and I plain don't like 5. But if they found there way into remaking some or all of the old Marks in diecast and they turned out as good as War Machine, those could be worth the money. So for me, if they make some of all of them and do it up to snuff, great and an easy buy, if not, well I'll keep an eye out for a second hand Mark II while I focus on getting the rest of the Legion.

You can't tell they're die-cast tho just buy looking at them, doesn't dicast flake and scratch easy too?

Anyone who looks at my Marks thinks they are all metal, especially the Mark II AU they think is chrome, they are in a glass case so they can't touch so I haven't corrected them :p

Well for me the diecast isn't so much the static look, but the whole engineering of the figure. Just look at the articulation they're getting on the new War Machine, and they're getting that with metal joints. I'd be after the old Marks if I could have that much flexibility in poses.

I know. Is this person trying to justify their own misfortune by trying to convince us that we're really the unfortunate ones because we bought all the plastic figures instead of waiting for as-of-yet unannounced diecast versions?

I'm glad you're late to the party too... more for the rest of us.

Maybe for them it is a good thing? That post didn't say you're all suckers, that post said they personally weren't feeling the original lineup in plastic and are optimistic for a potential set of armors in diecast, given what we're seen so far, and they were happy they didn't go ahead buy a bunch of armors they themselves didn't really like in the meantime.

As with many things in this hobby, people want to justify in their minds why or why not to purchase something. They are rationalizing not buying due to the manufactured plastic. They obviously feel that die cast whether the weight or the ridged build is more appealing to their dollar.

However they were insinuating that most people would be burdened with selling off the plastic ones because Die Cast is superior and the best representation of the Mark suits which has yet to be determined. I do not know the posters intent of the thread, but to put it out there as a new topic they are definitely not throwing out congrats to people who own previously released Mark suits. Just my take on it.:wave
