Well for me the diecast isn't so much the static look, but the whole engineering of the figure. Just look at the articulation they're getting on the new War Machine, and they're getting that with metal joints. I'd be after the old Marks if I could have that much flexibility in poses.

Its not metal joints allowing that articulation its simply the engineering and design... look at any Gundam model kits and they've had similar articulation for years.. no metal

Maybe for them it is a good thing? That post didn't say you're all suckers, that post said they personally weren't feeling the original lineup in plastic and are optimistic for a potential set of armors in diecast, given what we're seen so far, and they were happy they didn't go ahead buy a bunch of armors they themselves didn't really like in the meantime.

Well, good for him/her. I'm glad I started collecting them when I did, in their apparent over-priced plastic inferiority, and I'm glad I've been able to enjoy them for the last few years. I'm glad I was able to be a part of this community and embrace the anticipation for the last several dozen releases, despite steady price increases, and read and discuss both the relevant and irrelevant details ad nauseum. I'm glad to have watched the steady increase in quality and design (mostly), and I'll be more than happy to embrace new figures as they're released and as I'm able to afford them.

And it's pretty bad manners to come to a party and say "I'm glad I came late and, in my opinion, everyone here before me was wasting their money and they'll probably regret it". :slap

Just did it for ya, brahhh!

Seriously, though, it's in poor taste. The other thing, and I mean no offense, Boba Debt, but I think it'd be better if you just conversed about stuff like this in existing threads, rather than started a new one every time something occurs to you.

No way man, theres still the "I just noticed this.." "It has occured to me.." "does anyone else think.." "I made a wise choice.." "This is how I like things.." etc threads to be made

look through his history... very few of his threads need their own thread
Good lord this isn't even an exaggeration:slap I'm not sure if this guy is a troll, or just pretty rude and oblivious because a lot of his threads are rude honestly.

I agree with literally everything else in this thread not stated by Boba Debt. I mean ok, you may get some figures that we own in a superior material, great for you. You may have to pay more while some of us paid less. Not to mention most of us are content with what we got. I personally wish I joined this party earlier but I can't do much on that, and I'm not gonna make a thread complaining. Maybe I'd tell why if people were wondering why I pay more than they do, or something, but I'm not gonna be a jerk to everyone. Hell, I'm surprised he hasn't even complained about the common Hot Toys complaints like too many Iron Men, delays for some lines etc.

Some of you read so much into a post it strains the imagination.

I have only been on this forum for a short time but it has a very immature vibe. I really don’t know how many of the members tolerate all of the fodder that pollutes most of the threads on this forum.

I posted a thread about display cases and one member is more interested in how I spelled “prettys” then the true content of the thread.

I try to read a thread about a new release and 75% of the posts are complaints about cost, the quality of the “prototype” head sculpt, or the how the real figure will end up sucking.

It almost like there are 2 communities pulled together by the common attraction to these costly little trinkets.

If they don't release Marks I - VII in Diecast then what?

Then I’ll get what I like at that time. I don’t spend a lot of money on something that doesn’t meet all of my expectations. I’m perfectly happy with the 1/12 scale HOA I built and if Hot Toys never releases another Diecast figure I’ll be ok with my Revoltech Figures. I can also say that building my 1/12 scale HOA as far more enjoyable then when I just bought the Hot Toys 4 pack.

This. And the resources that HT would need to procure to make the entire line again for a possible non seller. I rather keep my plastic marks. The only one I could really see myself getting would be a die cast Mark 1. That would be sick.

I agree, a die cast M1 would be awesome. I can also guarantee that if Hot Toys announced that the M1 was the next die cast figure the eBay prices on the 2.0 M1 would drop dramatically.

you could always collect play imaginatives

That has crossed my mind but I think that Hot Toys will put out a superior product.

You and I think alike. I am floored by the level of engineering and thought that went into the die cast War Machine.

I have always prefered metal over plastic. I’m the same way when it comes to props. Resin Star Wars blasters are okay but I prefer the heft and function of metal. Many of you don’t know me, but I was building metal blasters years before Master Replicas was even a thought in Steve’s mind. I had plenty or resin lovers criticizing my work but that never prevented me from working the others to produce some very accurate versions of these blasters. At the same time I didn’t hunt out threads about resin blaster projects just to rain on their party, instead, I often allowed people from those projects the opportunity to buy my parts so they could cast and sell them because it gave people options.

Thank you for understanding the exact intent of my post

Sorry, I'm a former Marine. I don't beat around the bush or use flowery words and I'm the exact opposite of politically correct.

I'm always perplexed about the nature of the people that populate the various hobbies that I enjoy because a lot of the time, they are very different from me, so I don't understand how we can be interested in the same things.

In the short time I have been in this small subculture of people that collect movie memorabilia I have seen trends that truly perplex me.

There are many things that I don't understand about some of you but I'm not going to waste any more effort trying to figure you out

I can tell that this particular venue is full of Gen Xers and millennials, which explains A LOT but not everything.

This forum is a great resource if you can tolerate the fodder but it's definitely not a great community.

Love how OP talks about "fodder" filling threads, yet his thread is exactly that... :cuckoo:
And how we're all immature yet somehow he isn't based on how uptight he's getting over some guy getting mad over a spelling error. Which is majority of the internet :lol along with getting a ban warning in some thread.

Basically you will wait around 2-3 years minimum for something that may or may not come. Worse, they may only make 3 of the 7 and quit. Then you go mish mesh figures and collections together while missing out on ever enjoying them. Plus if you want an HOA who knows what acquiring that would look like in the future. The only bad fig currently is the mark III, but for my uses I do not mind what so ever. May be different for others.

But for now........

You can wait, I'll enjoy this.:yess:

That is a very nice set up sir..

I'm glad I was late to this thread. :lol Its easy to take things the wrong way when you read them on a message board, sometimes your mood and mental state play into how you read them. That being said I don't have any problem with what he said and I can see how some of you took it that way but at the end of the day we are all here because we share a passion for something most people don't. Lets try to embrace that passion together instead of butting heads when opinions differ. :1-1: I don't know I guess im just in a good mood today. War machine mk 2 and Celtic pred coming in hot!!!

Just like stuff from a few years ago seems antiquated now, in a few years, all the current stuff will seem quaint and basic in relation to whatever's next. That's the nature of the hobby. Enjoy it for what it is while you can.

Die cast is little more than sucker bait.
I wasn't a fan of diecast previously because I figured HT was using it strictly as a me-too gimmick and that it's only purpose was to add the heft some collectors seem to covet, but they've totally exceeded my expectations by actually incorporating it in a way that improves the figure. It's obvious a lot of thought went into the design and engineering of these diecast figures, so it just seems obtuse now if you're still ranting against it. You don't even have a reason to dislike it, anymore, aside from just being a crank.

So your telling to sell all my stuff and wait for the next best thing? Ahhhhhhh

Well put. And has been mentioned before even if you aren't a big IM fan, this is really encouraging for Robocop and other potential future figures that could incorporate die cast. But I also think we need a little time to see how these guys will hold up for the long haul. Hopefully the joints and paint are made to last.
