Oooh oooh, is this the thread in which we get to post LULZ about the Customs forums?? My turn

"Here is our $300 custom Gordan figure. We are friends with Hot Toys, they said they are not making one, so you can buy this now"

"We are only making $350 custom figure, not selling head sculpt, because we don't want our stuff recasted and sold for a fraction of the cost. . oh the body?? It's a recast body because legit bodies are too expensive, so it's much cheaper to buy recast at a fraction of the price, it allows us to keep our price low."

"I just spent $400 on a custom outfit, and $200 on a custom head, but no way in hell am I paying $50 for a TrueType body, I'll just buy a recast body for $25."

In WGP Indy thread, "I constantly amazed at the lack of tact from the members of this forum" . . . runs into HT Bespin Luke thread " Cmon, HT quit ******* around and release this thing already"

Oh yeah, and the whole "You can only recast stuff that we say you can recast, like bodies, recast bodies are okay. You can never recast heads, unless it's a mass produced head like Indiana Jones or Terminator or Joker, and don't forget, bodies are okay to recast. . . unless Rainman made it. You can recast a Trevor Grove head ONLY if it was produced by Sideshow, you can't recast a Trevor Grove head he sold himself. . . and for God's sake don't say Trevor Grove's name three times out loud, or else demon lawyers hired by Showtime will swoop in with their attache cases and shut the boards down."

I love seeing the stuff get made in those threads, and there's some wonderful work being created, but those are a wacky bunch of characters posting there.

:goodpost: Haha, Awesome, so many valid points here. Actors are artists also and some sculpter not paying for likeness rights is stealing from that artist. All recasting does is keep the hobby alive and well. Also I've seen some crap paint jobs ruin some awesome sculpts, would have been nice to have a spare to start over but recasting unlicensed heads is bad like you said, Rescaling and modding is all good though.:hi5:

Its not that people are poor , and can't afford the $900 customs ,it's that they have common sense and realize that Hot Toys figures are better :wave and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper

More bang for the buck

Some little kid on YouTube did his own Autobotjohn Parody :lol

Its pretty sad when a little kid thinks Autobotjohns work sucks

There are just as many breifly displayed hot toys figures in the for sales thread as customs.most of the time someone spends money on a figure and 2 months later a new custom figure or ht realease is anounced so in order to get the new one you may have to sell another one.

I think people are ape **** crazy for spending the amounts they do on custom clothes and figures but then again I basiclly spent $50 on an expired sideshow gift card once (and I knew it was expired) so who am I to talk. :)

Though the HT collector douchery is growing, it doesn't rival the custom d-bag douchery which, along with the price of customs, widens the gap in your comparison tenfold.

I would never personally spend the amount people do on custom figs and parts as i cant afford it and if i could i doubt i would anyway.

Some custom parts are very reasonable though (normally unpainted) but i can't understand how a suit can be worth $500+ or whatever that's just wrong.

Some 1 off custom figures like say elvis1976 does are expensive to put together in the 1st place as he uses quality stuff. Then there's the custom sculpt etc and paintjob on top so they are priced well and not excessive.

Some customisers/sculptors on here take the piss price wise but if people are happy to pay it then fair play.

I have a few kitbashes and have done some slight custom work here and there and have even had a few clothing items commissioned for reasonable prices. That said, I can only see myself kitbashing a few more figures, most notably Bruce Wayne (CB) and RE3 Jill, the latter of which I will need to have a bit of commission work done.

After that, I'm hanging up 1/6 custom figures and just buying stock releases. Although, even then it will likely be some time before I can add more than a handful to my collection. I'm low on overall space and display room, at the moment.

See, on the one hand, I have no problem with, and can wholly appreciate, updating older products, like going from LOTR on dvd to Blu Ray or from a Batman Classics 2003 Zipline Mattel figure to a DC Superheroes version.

However, I can't really seem to fully transfer that logic to 1/6, unless it's extremely outdated. Even then I have only upgraded twice (Medicom Bats "Batman Begins" to Takara Batman BB and Hot Toys Joker v1 to Hot Toys DX1 Joker) and could only see myself doing so once more with the Hot Toys DX6 Jack Sparrow, as I have the Medicom version from so long ago.

That said, I still have every single 1/6 figure I've purchased since I got into the hobby. I love my older 1/6 figures, such as the Medicom Jack Sparrow, Medicom Batman Begins and X2 Wolverine. Hell, I even like the v1 TDK Joker. And even if Sideshow produces a Jango Fett, I am fairly content with the Medicom version. So, I'm pretty satisified with my current 1/6 collection, at present.

I just need a TDK Batman, ASM Spidey, ESB Darth Vader, RE3 Jill Valentine, 1/6 Vegeta, CB Bruce Wayne, and Hot Toys Catwoman to complete my current wishlist. :D

LOL!

You'd be surprised to know I only have two (and a half) detolfs of 1/6 figures. The rest of my crap is smaller stuff, antiques, weapons and tons upon tons of movies and video games. >.>

:lol

I half expected to get that look, but more along the lines of this:
