All I want to see is how Weyland Yutani evolves through time, if it's Alien or AVP.

Based in the future, not present time. Weyland Yutani era. 1 human. Rest are dead. Maybe a cool Machiko story line. With broken tusk. Nice!

That would mean, we have to include the.....ugh....yautja. So no.

Plus, that would be too much like AvP, and no one liked the team up. So, no more team ups.

Future, city on another planet, humans, aliens, predators. Action, but with a good story, and characters, also good actors. I dont care if they get big stars, if they can act, then i'm happy.

Although I was at first dissapointed when watching alien 3 that Hicks and Newt had died I do agree it made the series better.
This and other things finally made Ripley realise that there was no way to escape these creatures that had terrorized her for so long and the only way out was death thus the ending.
I don't really want to see a 5th alien movie but if it comes I don't want it to have anything to do with the old story. The same goes with predator , don't carry on anything.

That is a good way of putting it
Poor Ripley :monkey1

every part of this is so silly that i can't wrap my head around it to form a response.

anywho, back on topic...
the thing about this topic is it's an insight into what makes the AvP series so stupid.
it is fundamentally detrimental to coming up with original ideas for a movie.
everyone's first instinct is to rehash what's already been done in some form.
that's what crappy movies are made of... let it die.

Here's the thing - I will certainly admit that Alien 3 was a better film than the AVP movies. I just don't like how they killed off Ripley, Hicks and Newt. Kind of selfish, I guess, but whatever, I liked the characters. I guess it's wrong of me to say that I didn't enjoy it, because it was still pretty good, and the rest of the characters blow away anything from the following Alien/AVP movies. I just wouldn't have a problem if they pulled a Superman Returns and followed 1 and 2, ignoring the rest.

As for Alien Resurrection, I just found it silly. The AVP movies certainly had their flaws, but it still felt like they were at least TRYING to take the franchise seriously. I didn't get that from Alien Resurrection whatsoever.

Siggy's idea. She didnt want to do any more. So....

Plus, Hicks and Newt would just be unneeded baggage. You really want a 10 year old girl in a prison full of rapists and murders?

Add on the fact that Carrie was a few years older, which would screw with the contiunty.

The story needed to end. It ended perfectly.

And yes, Siggy ended up doing another Alien anyway.....

I have read a great many opinions shared here. The hatred for AVPR is evident by the venomous remarks. While I certainly understand and agree with many comments, there were some positive results of the movie. There were several new collectables as a direct result of the AVPR movie. To name a few: Hot Toys Wolf, Alien, and Predalien, Hot Toys Wolf vs. Predalien diorama, Sideshow Predalien, and Sideshow Concept Predalien, Sideshow Wolf bust, etc.

Aliens was such a great movie, I almost memorized it. Sadly, AVPR certainly disappointed. Should they make two movies instead of one? That would be fine with me because I want more unique collectables. Should they address all the complaints and make another futuristic AVP in space? That is fine with me too. But keep in mind that I am so old that I remember purchasing the very first AVP comic books, Aliens vs. Batman (remember the AlienGator?), etc. I am probably too optimistic of what could be done if handled correctly. I like monsters and creatures; I always have; it is my curse.

To comment on “If You Were To Make The Next AVP..” I would certainly hope for new Predators and Aliens, a better script, better acting, better lighting, a better budget, futuristic space setting, etc. I would look forward to the movie’s success and hope for the production of new 1/6 figures and statues.

I don't necessarily disagree with your points, but the story could have been handled differently to allow them.

But why? So Newt could scream more? So Hicks could be immobile the entire film?

So Ripley could save the day in the most cliche way possible? Eh....no thanks. I like that each Alien film feels different in tone. We dont need rehashes.

Plenty of ways. She could have been much older for one, the movie wouldn't necessarily have to open with them waking up from stasis. The franchise could have gone in any number of directions.

After the mass of re-writes and the hard time Fincher got, I believe he pulled off a fantastic job. Featuring some great performances by notable English actors, it was dark dingy and with the exception of the creature itself it looked real. The killing off of Hicks and Newt helped to set a bleak tone of helplessness, if these main characters can die so could anyone. Helped to set a more realistic tone. Just because you're the protagonist it didn't mean you were going to walk away from it at the end.

I'll have you know I had to convince bishop to stay when Ripley went back for Newt , he wanted to go you know , he really did.
It was hard to convince him. :monkey1:rotfl

Oh and I prefer how they killed Newt and Bishop , it really brought closure to the fact Ripley would not escape these creatures and would never find someone who she would probably stay with forever.
Only if they didn't land on that damn planet ! :lol

it looked like it burned the whole upper left half of his body.
and that crap oxidizes the iron in your blood, which would put you in a coma.
so, Hicks would've died anyway.

I agree it appears to turn you into a giggling overacting fool

Maybe not if james cameron had done another film - the extras say it was his intention to set up hicks, ripley and newt as a family thing. And I think I read somewhere he was quite annoyed that they killed hicks and newt in Alien3.

My take on it - I was annoyed at the time - but I've come to accept it and I think Alien 3 is a good film, particularly the special edition.

Yes, Cameron said something about how "You cant just betray the fans..." or something like that. But really.....Fox wouldnt give the money to do the FINAL ALIEN BATTLE ON EARTH WITH RIPLEY, HICKS AND NEWT!!!, and plus Carrie was older, so thats an issue...and Weaver didnt want them alive anyway. So, blame it on her.
