Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

The Iminime prices have always been in the $350-450 range varying slightly from release to release. So this really shouldn't have been such a surprise.

350 would have been more reasonable. I'm not surprised by the price, this wouldn't be my first iminime figure. I'm concerned about what we get for that price.

And although in theory your comparison to a DiD release should be valid, it's not because we are talking a mass produced figure (with poorer quality and lower production costs) when compared to a full custom figure which is cast in superior resin (not injection molded) and hand painted.

Yes, you're right. The DID figures are mass produced, but in this case they look better than something that is hand made. And it's not because of the quality of materials and the process of how they made it. But because of the likeness on the headsculpt in question. I'm not arguing that a custom made figure isn't worth 400 dollars or that it should be cheaper to make. I'm saying it doesn't LOOK like a 400 dollars figure to me. Not because of material and process, but the likeness. Following me? :dunno

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

I'll bring it up with Denny regarding the payment plan.

Regarding the outstanding orders... I personally don't have anything to do with that directly... HOWEVER, as a customer of Iminime myself, i can vouch for them. They delay projects at times because they want to get things right (for instance Fight Club) and because of unforeseen bottlenecks (3D printing and manufacture of TWD accessories). Not too different than Hot Toys when they postpone releases, which they are prone to do, sometimes up to almost a year.

I'd totally be in for a payment plan. I'm looking at the rest of the trio and Dirty Harry in the future, and, if Blondie's setting the precedent, at least one, or all of those will be a bit above the average IMINIME price point. So, if a payment plan would be viable, that would be a hell of a weight off my shoulders.

Totally get you. I will say its curious... the phenomenon of the 'high-end' collector in this hobby is odd. Sometimes people pay an obscene price for a figure that doesn't have a likeness anywhere near the likeness on this figure or at least commensurate with it. Other times, it's the opposite case.

I don't own the DiD figure. But I can say that I do own some DiD figures. And they are generally good. They feel a bit vinyl-y in the head sculpt but if the sculpt is good its forgivable. I think if it was up to Denny he'd love to go that route of producing mass quantities at high standards but i don't want to speak for him in this case.

Like I said I will run it by him. But what I can say is that its unlikely based on what I know of Iminime's business model. It's costly to employ so many talented artists and painters and much of the future project funding comes from Pre-orders. Is it the perfect way to do things? Probably not. Its probably not Iminime's preferred way to do things. The good things is that these figures don't always sell out right away and the edition sizes have gone up. So there's a chance you can take your time pre-ordering and not miss out.

Now on DX items I don't think thats likely to work. But think of those
'special' pieces the way you would a Rainman or Scott Petersen or Beto release. You better have the moolah handy or you might miss out! LOL. Think about it this way... should someone who has the full value of the figure ready to pay be made to miss out over someone who's only willing to pay a quarter or a third of the value to hold a spot when, although unlikely, they could have some unforeseen event or expense inhibit the completion of payments?

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

I would be in even further if there was a payment plan....2-3 payments would prolly help him sell out much quicker...but he also has to make sure all the language is set up for him to automatically charge the subsequent payments after the first...:)

Yeah, I better.:lol It's less about having it handy and more about having the "time" to have it handy, though. Honestly, from what I know right now, it's unlikely that we'll be seeing Harry for a while (maybe not even this year), but I just don't want to get hit with almost $1000 in a month (if not more) if Tuco and Angel Eyes hit around the same time. They both seem like they're at similar stages, but I just hope that Denny can space them out a little, if you will.

Yeah, I think Harry is a ways away. Trevor hasn't even finished his Lenny sculpt and I know he will be sculpting an entirely new Dirty Harry head (not modding the Blondie sculpt).

Regarding Angel Eyes and Tuco... I will suggest to him to split these two Pre-Orders over two months so as not to create the chaos that would probably happen if they go live at the same time! LOL. Still, i think these are also a ways away. At least two months I would say.

Next up are the Fight Club revamp, the Bride, and Kirk i believe. Plus he will be delivering TWD this month (september)

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

Thanks for the responses Wake. I expect things to be a little bumpy out of the gate, so bear with some of us on some of these questions.

About IMINIME/CinemaScale
1. Will folks in the US still be able to order direct from Iminime if they want or is this an exclusive arrangement?
2. How are EX orders going to be handled? Will they go up at the same time? Limits?
3. Is there a savings in shipping, etc. in going through CinemaScale? Any other benefits?
4. Will CS be offering all IMINIME releases and configurations or select full figures?

About Spock/TREK
1. Will H+C or Headsculpts be offered separately?
2. Is this the final outfit or will there be a logo pattern tunic
3. Will there be any additional tweaks to the head sculpt?

Well, that's one that I don't have to worry about, then; for a while, anyways.:lol Also, would you be able to ask Denny to flesh out the details with Tuco and Angel Eyes a bit more? Not actual details, but one thing that would help would be if I knew how much I needed to save. Is a DX possible for Tuco, and, even so, are these going to be a higher price like Blondie or something more comparable to Spock, since they're in house projects, whereas Blondie was a collaboration?

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

What do you mean by Fight Club revamp? The one we already preordered or what???

Also... Any chance Denny can make improvements to the sculpt and paint for Spock? Would hate to see this line stumble because of this

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer PI

So if you are acting as "distributer" of Iminime's North American figures, does that mean we're actually paying you Omar? And I'm assuming that also means you will be taking on returns/replacements and other customer service-related issues associated with these figures purchased from you?

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

Thanks for the responses Wake. I expect things to be a little bumpy out of the gate, so bear with some of us on some of these questions.

No problem at all! Im here to answer questions!
About IMINIME/CinemaScale
1. Will folks in the US still be able to order direct from Iminime if they want or is this an exclusive arrangement?

Ok, sorry for the confusion... here's the answer. CINEMASCALE.com will handle any and all North American AND Sideshow Freaks Forum orders. Exclusively. You could order through Iminime, but the money will be refunded or transferred back to Cinemascale and so will the responsibility of customer service.

2. How are EX orders going to be handled? Will they go up at the same time? Limits?

Cinemascale will sometimes have exclusive items available only through cinema scale (much in the way that sideshow works). Broad releases will go up at the same time or within a few hours of each other. Cinemascale will make ALL of the normal Imnime releases available through the website.

3. Is there a savings in shipping, etc. in going through CinemaScale? Any other benefits?

The costs of shipping are the same for you. Iminime will see a slight reduction (very minor) in their shipping costs to the US because instead of shipping 30 individual boxes they are shipping one or two large one to a central address where they will be distributed from there.

Additionally hopefully cinemascale customers will benefit from having immediate answers to questions and concerns (kind of like these! ;) )

4. Will CS be offering all IMINIME releases and configurations or select full figures?

Just answered this above, but to reiterate... YES to all releases and configurations.

About Spock/TREK
1. Will H+C or Headsculpts be offered separately?

Yes. Still have to get pricing on this.

2. Is this the final outfit or will there be a logo pattern tunic

That would require printing the fabric pattern which for orders of less than 1,000 yards is impossible and/or cost prohibitive. Unfortunately that is a limitation of NOT being mass produced.

3. Will there be any additional tweaks to the head sculpt?

I don't know the answer to this. I suspect when Denny reads the reaction he will gauge wether or not to make the call here.

I need to discuss some of your questions with Denny to give you the precise answers your want. To my knowledge:

1. DX would entail a separate HS and I do NOT believe either Angel Eyes or Tuco will have that.
2. The inhouse project isn't any cheaper, contrary to popular belief. It's just different.

What do you mean by Fight Club revamp? The one we already preordered or what???

Yes, the one you pre-ordered. LOL. Relax, Yuanmei, you are covered! :wave

I answered this above!

You are paying Cinemascale. Cinemascale is a limited liability corporation. Cinemascale and Iminime have a distribution agreement. Part of that agreement entails being an 'arm' of iminime in the USA. To that end, you can expect any and all issues regarding customer service and replacements to be handled JUST LIKE they were before, the only difference being the address where you send the figure back or the email where you send in the concern.

Im a SSF member, but am based in Asia. Me buying from a American distributor makes no sense when I live in the same continent as the producer, that too just because Im a member of SSF!

Please clarify this situation for Non US based SSF Members... I would prefer a direct shipping from Iminime of course... and therefore pay their site directly instead of Cinemascale...

Ankit, you would be right except that SSF is an english-languaged based site. run out of the USA, and therefore in, a convoluted sense in the CinemaScale zone. All SSF buyers NOT in the USA will receive there orders DIRECTLY from Denny JUST LIKE you would have if you had ordered directly. Guys, everyone is free to order from Iminime if you prefer, but your patronage to CinemaScale will continue to provide for increased Promo and presentation improvements, customer service and more. Is that better explanation?

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer PI

Ok that just saved me a mini heart attack! thinking about having items shipped from the US on EMS charges... :horror :horror

No. THE SHIPPING PRICES WILL ALL BE THE SAME AS ALWAYS. Your zones have the SAME costs as before.

Re: [iminime] Trekking into the Dark - The Brash Captain, The Vulcan First Officer

So that includes North American customers, then?

Yes. Sure. But why a customer in North America wouldn't want to give patronage to cinemascale, thereby cementing improvements to Iminime's model, is beyond me. In the end the order will still go through CinemaScale. Denny will just ship the order to CinemaScale for distribution to the NA Customer. So if you prefer, sure order from Iminime directly.
