Funny that Rainman took the alternate approach and actually made more unpainted heads for sale in order to combat recasters. If Denny made the unpainted sculpts constantly available, then many folks would probably go to him instead of EBay recasters whenever they wanted one. But Denny's got his rationale and business model, so if it works for him great.

Hmm, wondering if the exclusivity of the DX headsculpt is partly due to the fear that if it's widely available, someone will get the Clint head recast for other projects (in addition to the collectability of it -- just thinking: small group of known posters = unlikely to recast)? But then the exclusivity of the Clint headsculpt would also make it a target for unsavoury types, so not sure. Guess I'm partly arguing for a bigger DX run so I can get one, dammit.

I was composing it while some of the others posted but I'm wondering specifically about the DX headsculpt (hatless) since a) it wouldn't be available separately to begin with, so not part of discussion above, and b) I'm assuming it would be more attractive to re-cast since it could be used for other Clint customs pretty easily -- unlike the one with the hat.

hi guys^^

dx sculpt is already gone after casted a certain resin heads.
only produced 40 pcs. 35of them will be as dx version.
5 pcs is used 1 for event winner and 2 for sample testing and keeping in office.

I am actually opening options to give more satisfaction for my customers.

if offering unpainted head really help me against recasters, then why not?
but as far as i know not many people wanting unpainted head, if I offer, maybe around 10 would be sold?
Not sure.
but What i think is the recaster will be happy to spend less. and more recasters will bring our heads.

anyway, I will keep reading and see how the trend goes~~

Amazing sculpts, but no 1/6 scale figure is worth $550 if that's true. It's a shame HT or EB will never make this, mainly because of the likeness rights issue.

That is where you're wrong!

Custom hand-made figures, released in very very limited numbers, are completely worth this amount. The amount of time and money invested by a very small company like Iminime is to be commended!

Iminime are not HT! They do have unlimited resources, and they will not be making these in their thousands!!!

It is a pretty simple model to understand. The more you make, the cheaper you can make the product.

Denny, what will be the time lapse from the intial VIP offer to the General Public. How many days does the VIP head start extend. At 35 DX is very low. Also, will you impose a 1 per customer rule for VIP since the edition is very low? Please consider making it fair for all customers.

Yes, Exactly. I see that Iminime sells to other toy outlets so some kind of buffer should be put into place to protect customers from having to deal with these businesses grabbing up all the stock, at least for this release since it's very limited and popular.

The time lapse is also an issue. For a release like this a few hours head start would be fair, a day at the most. But a few days could prove disasterous for newer customers and the VIP membership fee shouldn't be imposed on customers either in order to have a chance at this.

I think of iminime as Rolls Royce in the automobile industry, whereas HT and EB would be comparable to Lexus/Acura. Each company has its own philosophy and business model. Rolls Royce does not mass produce their cars at affordable prices to generate revenue from sales volume.

Their customers value exclusiveness of the Rolls Royce brand, which is highly correlated with social status, and the quality of their work. Do not take this reference aspect for aspect, for iminime is not in the automobile industry. However, the analogy is quite similar.

That's true JP; on such a seemingly popular DX maybe Denny should give the Freaks first crack before cutting in any other retailer on the action. Like VIP's first, then general public and then if by chance there are any left-over in a week or two, Denny can send those over to the retailers.

I'm not telling you how to run things Denny . I’m just pointing out that leaving your wholesale accounts out of it until the end (if there are any left) would be fairer to the Freaks

Hmmm, I guess to me that seems a bit silly (not you or your argument, but the rationale, if this is how they view things). Even their DX run is quite large (in number; not in relation to demand) in comparison to some of the one-man talent on the boards where a run might be closed after 10 or 15 figures and in which it actually makes sense to have a very limited run since there's no-one else to delegate work to.

I guess the issue I have is this is not a medium like automobiles where no-one else can replicate Rolls' work. One of the 35 people that gets the DX can easily scan it and print it and sell it themselves to anyone unscrupulous enough to buy it, so the exclusivity seems to me counter-productive (even if everyone that can afford one buys one, it will still be a small run).

As I've said in a previous post, even though the DX run makes no sense to me, I'll still try for a spot and won't be annoyed if I don't make the list. Just seems odd to me that they have the ability to produce more for people who are basically giving them a blank cheque to do so but in a sense refusing the business. Also, I think the Rolls comparison falls apart a little when it comes to pricing. The DX is by custom standards pretty average (especially for work of this quality -- assuming the paint and tailoring are equal to Trevor's sculpt), so if they wanted to have a super limited run for the sake of exclusivity, they should be charging $1500.00 or something outrageous for it which will automatically thin the herd. They've made it affordable but at the same time super limited, so the maximum number of people won't get a spot. *shrugs*

After VIP and Freaks there will not be any DXs left. This will sell out very quickly.
