The BIG insult was calling them hoes. There's no doubt about the definition of ho, but there is definitely a debate on the definition of nappy headed. In NY, nappy headed means unclean and unkept, messy hair. How many of the girls on Rutgers' team are wearing an Afro hair style with very curly hair? None? Then I believe your definition of nappy headed doesn't apply in this case. JMHO.
You're right. Nappy-head can also be referred to anyone else, but I think, looking at Imus' comments in the past, you can be certain he was aiming towards blacks.

Anyone catch the news that Governor Corzine of New Jersey was on his way yesterday to meet with the Rutgers BB Team and Imus and his SUV was involved in a serious crash and now this man is in serious condition!

Bababooeyyyyyyy !!!!! ADIOS I-MAN

On South Park it is obvious satire in an fictional context. Quite a bit different than what Imus said.

I don't think he was necessarily racist, just implying that the team wasn't composed of the most attractive of women. But his choice of words was unfortunate. But the guy hasn't been funny in 30 years - time to move over and let Ryan Seacrest have his spot...

"thought we talking about Hos?"
"Well your moms pretty fat and got a big ole nose"

Alright, I have seen Cosmo freak out because he's basically been called a rich kid because he can afford major Sideshow pieces. Now imagine you are a young black woman who has worked very hard most of your life to get a scholarship and had just participated in the final game of the national championship for women's basketball. The next day you wake up and a man with a national talk show whom you have never met says you look like a nappy headed ho while his producer shouts ******* in the background. How would YOU feel? Imagine it was your daughter. Imagine the guy has had a past of saying similar things. I wonder if some of you are going to have homosexual kids one day? I'm done preaching and am much more about having fun here, but man there has been some hateful stuff in here.
i freaked out?:rotfl

Imus has been a jerk for a long time now. He got what he deserved. I do hope that this spotlight shines ever more brightly on the other jerks like rappers and comedians - many of whom are of the same race that Imus comments were aimed at - who continually say far worse things about their own people. The outright hatred that many Black men have towards Black women as evidenced in rap lyrics and so called comedic routines is revealing. Maybe this case will take away the license to be hateful and just plain stupid.

100% agreed.

You want to talk about racism?

I've got my little Irish/Italian daughter watching the new Barbie Fairtopia movie the Easter Bunny brought her.
She asked me for the toy to go with it.
The white, blonde Barbie is $24.99 but the black Barbie is only $19.99!!
WTF!
Does anyone have Al Sharptons number? Target is saying the black doll isn't worth as much as the white doll!

Okay, since Evilface brought it up, its something I am genuinely curious about. What is the PC term for black people in other countries?

......black .... at least from what I heard.

makes me think of Venture Bros when Jefferson Twilight was arguing about 'blackula' being the pc term for a black vampire

the media is the one guilty of perpetuating racism... the question shouldn't be "was what he said racist", it should be, "why does anyone care what some old insensitive f@@k is spewing"? why are the words of someone so insignificant given so much power?
