It’s kinda funny how most say at “INART prices.” Why don’t more people criticize Hot Toys prices? As a US buyer, DXAE Joker is estimated to be $580 USD all in from Sideshow with tax and shipping for me and Legolas is $556 USD all in including shipping off OSK site.

Disclaimers: Of course this is my personal experience but generally speaking, it’s funny to see other people in general, but more specifically US buyers in the community at large (not just on this site) complaining about INART prices but give Hot Toys a pass? Do we forget how much Hot Toys DXAE Joker is? And yes, I’m using the all in, jacked up premium tacked on prices cause that’s what matters to people at the end of the day. And yes, this is more so for the US buyers only, as Sideshow is preferred method for Hot Toys and OSK is preferred method for INART products. Only reason why I’m comparing these.

I mean, you said it yourself: you chose the single most expensive Hot Toys to compare to InArt's average price. People do complain about Hot Toys prices, but there's less ire for ~$300 figures compared to $500+.

Also, at the end of the day, consumer psychology is that people are only gonna think about the Sideshow price and not factor in tax & shipping when making the comparison. Is that silly? Yes, but it's how most people's brains work when making a purchase.

I chose Legolas cause it’s a standalone figure. Why would I compare a single pack Artisan Joker to a INART 2-pack? Reason why I chose the most expensive Hot Toys is because quite frankly, virtually no one complains over the DXAE Joker price, which makes my point as people hardly complain for Hot Toys prices.

I don't know that I agree that no one complains about Artisan Joker's price, but if those complaints have been downplayed, it owes to two factors:

1. Since InArt only released a 2-pack, there's no direct comparison. People therefore saw Artisan Joker as the cheapest way to get a single rooted Joker.

2. Limited edition sizes -- while largely a marketing tactic -- give the Artisan line the appearance of additional value. With how InArt secondary prices look, I'm not sure there's a tangible difference, but it feels that way to the person holding one of 3000 pieces.

Regardless, to get back to my original point, while Hot Toys has dipped their toe in the high-end market with the Artisan line, the fact remains that on the whole, they exist at a lower price point than InArt.

That’s fair, but Idk, just a perception I’ve had. How people speculate that Daenerys will be $600+ is just jumping ship too, imo. Legolas is $556 off OSK as well, and sometimes I wonder if people forget that OSK tacks on their own premium to make some sort of profit.

While INART does exist in a different price tier overall including rooted sets, INART sculpted standalone offerings are slightly above or sometimes less than Hot Toys sculpted standalone offerings.

It was discussed in the main INART thread, but it sounds like INART is moving away from the S8 Winterfell prototype and exploring other costume designs for Daenerys Targaryen and more characters beyond Daenerys and Jon Snow!

I know I write a lot lol, but here’s a read if you don’t want to check YouTube:

Ivan, the INART COO, remarked how most of Daenerys’s costumes have “less clothing” so they’re developing a seamless body and will then decide on the specific costume. When asked about the current S8 Winterfell prototype, Ivan all but alluded to how it received unfavorable feedback which caused them to reassess/shift strategy regarding the entire line. He said previously shown prototypes don’t “necessarily mean it’ll go up for PO 100%” especially if they don’t feel “comfortable taking it out” in speaking to the ever-changing R&D process leading up to an official PO.

Idk about y’all, but it sounds like they’re scrapping it. I actually really like the Winterfell look and I love the entire series, hell I would’ve loved if INART had made her finale leather suit, but I’ll always prefer early seasons as far as representation goes, so I for one, am excited about these developments. Due to considering a seamless body, it sounds like it’ll be a bare arm look which she only sports in Seasons 1-6. Season 7-8 looks feature full clothed suits.

Also, they pointed out how Game of Thrones is really expansive (likened it to Star Wars) as in there’s various seasons and looks and feel it’s a disservice to only do Daenerys and Jon Snow, so they plan on starting off the line with 4-6 figures, “make it right”. I personally hope they realized it’s best to start off with earlier seasons looks for all the main characters. Imo, the main core are Daenerys, Jon, Jaime, Tyrion and Cersei, but it’ll be fun to speculate who they plan on making, what seasons they’re based on, etc. I just hope there’s some cohesion and not too mismatched.

The bad news is they will unveil GoT figures “later next year (2026) or early the year after (2027 lol)” since they’re focusing on “finishing” other IPs lines until then (I assume Movie 1 HP figures, LOTR Fellowship, DC TDK Trilogy and BvS). So we’re essentially 2 years away from this GoT line, but I’m just glad to know they’re in the pipeline.

All that being said, if they really have moved on from the current Winterfell prototype, I hope they choose to do the S3 blue outfit. There’s actually three variations of it and I would prefer the second version. It’d be a holiest grail figure for me, I think it’s the most definitive costume design for the character. I know Threezero has made it but that’s irrelevant imo…. I’d kill for INART to do it justice.

I also made these comparison pictures showing all three variations of the blue dress look. I think most of us thought they were one and the same, but they’re actually not! It shows the evolution of how she grew in power during Seasons 3-4, by implementing more of the dragon-scale embroidered motif into the base suit. There’s lots of beautiful and intricate detail, and I think INART would knock it out the park.

Also, this entire costume design retains style elements from the Dothraki (their sacred blue color, the trousers and boots since she hasn’t settled yet) and Qarth (inspiration for the cut of the dress) leading to Daenerys finally working on her own costuming and how she wanted to present herself. I love costume design and I enjoy how the narrative and story elements are interwoven into this look.

#2 is my overall favorite. And I think it’s cause of one of the scenes it represents. One of the most epic power moves where she reveals her tactical intelligence and strength when she takes control of the Unsullied, and commands Drogon to burn Kraznyz alive. “Dracarys”. Chills every single time. Such a turning point for the character and this representation is sorely missing in the collection for me lol

Yeah, there really isn't a "typical" look for her. I remember reading (maybe in the amazing - and huge - GOT costume book) that the designer subtly changed her look from episode to episode, and sometimes from scene to scene, to show her character's growth. It may not be obvious, but she said she never wore the exact same thing twice. It was intended to be almost subliminal. She did this with a lot of the characters. I think Sansa's outfits were similar in that regard.

Personally, I loved the fur coat look when it popped up on the show and would have loved to see that one made. I have both of the ThreeZero figures and that fuzzy look would have made for some cool variety. Either way, it looks like we'll have plenty of time to think about it ...

I’d argue the blue look is easily the most worn. She wears it (all three variations) over a course of like 14 episodes. Definitely wore the second and third variation more than couple times. But yeah, she’s got a plethora of costumes.

I loved the Winterfell look too. For a final season look, I would’ve wanted her last outfit. But in the end, I’m glad they’ve seemingly switched gears.
