This is a 12 inch figure with a 2 inch sculpt.. :medic

You can tell me this is a 1/1 scale $2000 statue and I would believe you. Still blown away by this prototype. It's insane how far figures have come and what can be done. Hope they knock it out of the park with the production side of things.

Well done InArt on an amazing figure but I won't be getting it though. Too expensive for me and I already have Asmus Gandalf The Grey.

Looking forward to the rest of their LOTR line.

I really don't see how they'll be able to capture all the detail in the headsculpt. PVC won't be able to hold that detail.

It's really a bummer that they're pushing out pre-orders so quickly. FOMO is in full effect.

wow, these last few updates really pushed me. Where is everyone pre-ordering from who is in North America ?

thats what im wondering too. i hope it isnt soft pvc or whatever hot toy uses for their sculpts. its really soft. i would opt for resin because details can be captured much easier and be more defined, but i feel people would lose their minds hearing that its resin since its much more brittle and fragile. if it drops from a detolf, you're pretty much screwed. you're not only worrying about paint chip but the thing either chipping a piece or outright breaking. i would like it to be resin tho, they look really nice and have a nice feel to the hand while handling

Holy moly, this looks insane. I don’t think I can swing it with their Joker pack coming, but I’d love to be able to see this thing in-person at some point.

Congrats to those getting him.

So I think the face is too narrow including the bridge of the nose and there is way too much beard around the mouth. Even in movie comparison pics you can see that clearly. I would love to see a video of the figure at a normal viewing distance.

It does look amazing, but personally I'm not taking a gamble on any such figure with rooted hair until I see some actual products in hand. We've all seen their Phoenix Joker busts and they're nowhere close the protos. I'm rooting for them to get it right, but let's just say I hope their Paul has a sculpted hair version too...

In any case I'll keep waiting for their GtW and ROTK Aragorn as far as LotR goes. I'd add Sauron but he'll never happen and even if he did he'd cost ~1K, so he's out. I'd only maybe pay that much cash for a metal Doom with a proper throne and whatever else.

PS: I still see DeNiro in the sculpt. I'm half expecting him to start talking about the ideas in his head...

It'll be interesting to see how the final product compares to Viper's Gandalf the White limited run custom, keeping in mind it will be a mass produced piece this time, I really wonder how many people will pay $500 for Gandalf given he's not as popular as Heath's Joker, a low production run could be beneficial in this case.

Y'all are really glossing over this post from the one guy we have on the forums who's got strong insight into the business of 1/6 manufacturing, perhaps willfully, or more than likely hopefully.

That's what the custom run figure graced by their production manager looked like in the end. I'm not saying it doesn't look good, but it's not a HT killer in paint, eyes, or sculpt fidelity. The widow's peak isn't even aligned at midline.

The GTG proto is still very off around the mouth and philtrum. Nose is a little narrow at the bridge. It's remarkably impressive technically, and if it comes within 90% of that in the end, then it will be an outstanding, centerpiece of a collection; still the best GTG by far. Gandalf is one of the few characters I would be willing to replace so soon with a better version, as I just love everything about him. But to wash away the flaws in the prototype's likeness is foolish.

But I'm telling you, if moving right to left in this example is -remotely- representative of the proto to production drop off, boy howdy will people be losing their minds. @R_R_X, are the DAM factory rumors still circulating? I definitely think that DAM can pull off paints and mold fidelity which exceeds the GTW product there, but not meet the GTG proto by a long shot.

Hot take though - say everything works out with InArt; amazing figure and product. Use the hat on your Crown Gandalf and show off the sculpt on this one.
