That's a very big assumption
Why? If a base is magnetic it has to have strong magnets, as they need to support the whole weight of the figure, basically do what crotch grabbers do. If the whole sole is magnetized it is easier for me to imagine that the foot will snap into place, flat on the surface of the base, rather than the other way around.

You have to wonder about the figure body itself. Will the joints be good and strong to hold a pose using the magnets.
I think the R&D would/should have looked at this.

That's what I'd be more concerned with is the strength of the ankles than the strength of the magnets. Weak ankles will make magnetic bases completely useless.

Ankles, knees or hips

Maybe they'll be like ratchet joints

It’s surprising to me that ratchets in figure bodies haven’t become more normal. Maybe it’s somehow more expensive? Transformers have been using them for awhile now and they definitely come in handy. I think HT has only recently started using them on some SW Clones

Don’t some of the Spider-Man figures have them?

Ahh yes I think you’re right. I don’t collect those so they didn’t come to mind. I think the video game ones do, but not sure about any of the Tom Holland ones 🤔
I just checked, I got confused, only the 1/4 Spidey has ratcheted joints. I’ve don’t have anything beyond the FFH 1/6 figures and they don’t have them.

Stressful for my fat fingers..
Absolutely, but if you are a new company that’s preaching to the collectors to be the next big thing that will bring much needed innovation like magnets instead of pegs, and then you show a flimsy 3mm wide magnet to hold in place a 500$ sculpt, well you are not reassuring collectors!
Maybe it’s a rare earth magnet? They are much stronger.

Ratchet joints are life.

I’ve been wanting ratchet joints to be the norm for a LONG time.

The M8 John Lennon figure was a magnetic stand and was one of the only great things about that piece.

A great Gandalf and Aragorn would be nice.

Legolas I'm a little less enamored with, but perhaps he'll be decked out with his shoulder armor to make his tights more interesting.

The trio would certainly make an amazing LOTR display.
Doubtful because Inart said these are specially Fellowship of the Ring versions. I hope they do a pre-Lothlorien Legolas so we get his Mirkwood bow. The main things to watch out for are the realism of the sculpt, realism, weathering and accuracy of the clothing and the proportions. Some Asmus figures suffer from body proportions and big hands.

**HOW TO TAKE CARE OF 1/6 GANDALF THE GREY'S HAIR**
I’m warming up to the sculpt here thanks to the up close video and different angles. I’m still going to be scrutinizing this figure until preorder ends because already having the Asmus figure means I need to be persuaded to make the plunge. I think Inart/Queen have a lot of potential to make these figures better proportioned and more realistic. But it’s very difficult because I see GTG Crown in person and occasionally see fellow members here posting their Asmus GTG and wondering. This feels a lot like Black Series vs SH Figuarts Star Wars figure debates since it’s similar focus on price point difference, realism and overall quality.

Nothing new here, only Skyrunner's thoughts.

the shot of Gandalf using the pipe to seal the envelope is a great set up!
I see that the book has writing too. It looks like IA has done some research into what people expect.

That video makes it awful tempting. It has the extra angles and close ups I’ve wanted. I have been trying to find an excuse/will to prune the SW and LOTR collection. Very clever of Inart/QS to give a full month preorder. Very clever.
