Inception > Avatar. Honest to god fact.

I have an anual movie viewing party in my home every November/Decamber. After seeing Avatar I was planning on using that as the movie party.

...then I saw Inception. The movie theme will be Inception.

just sayin'

It's like someone took a really deep Indie film, mixed it with a hiest movie, add on a big summer blockbuster, throw in a little sci fi..and WHAM. Inception.

Exactly how I would put it.

____ em both.

They're similar in that they generated undeserved hype. What both films DO deserve however are awards for the most over rated films of the decade. Though to it's credit, Avatar had it years before it's release where as someone just woke up a week before Inception premiered and proclaimed it to be the "best movie evar!" and then as the story goes, people soon followed suit.

But if you'll noticed, it's died down alot. Inception was in the spot light for a little under a month to the general public. Not very long in my opinion and rightfully so. I'm sure it will pick up a little bit with home entertainment releases and then the inevitable "OSCAH NODS" but it'll soon be forgotten buried under the weight of movies before and after it. Speaking of oscars I'm sure there are a few individuals here that think it's more than deserving of a few nominations and/or wins.

I've got to say, I may not like the film but it deserves at least a nomination for cinematography (Wally Pfister). Other categories though? No, no.

Did I think Inception was okay? Yeah. Mind blowing, thought provoking awesomeness? Hell. No.

I don't give 2 poops what is in the spotlight when. Inception rocked my world and is still rocking it. End of story.

Because, they're both overrated movies with modern effects that hypnotize the audience into zombies.

Okay, that ____'s starting to piss me off...

Well i guess it goes to show that not all people are the same and that the reason why we have different genre's of movie's is becuase people wont allways like the same thing. Inception and avatar are on thier own league.:1-1: . And dont take this as a defending avatar post or anything.

^ No. I still dont, and will never get people who dont like Inception. That movie is near perfect.

comparing the two movies, Inception and Avatar, together is like apples and oranges. They are both fruit; they are big movies that were thought to be seen in IMAX for the full experience. Other than that I see relatively no resemblance. Maybe you could argue the avatar life and the dream world are similar in the way that the main characters use an altered state of reality to journey into each respective adventure.

Personally..
Avatar I went for the 3d imax ____. And that's really all I expected and it was entertaining even though I didn't care about any character and wish it just would've ended like half way through.

Inception I went for because of my appreciation for Nolan making movies, that in my eyes, don't feel like I'm being bull____ted or cheated into spending my money to go see. I have high expectations for his movies, and they usually do a pretty good job at entertaining me and being a pleasant experience. I was more interested in the plot and the characters then any slow motion or world spinning ____. In fact, I really disliked the part with the whole dream world exploding...I felt like it was totally unnecessary. That being said, I forgot I was watching a movie and I was entertained til the very end. That's what a movie should be like. I wanted to see it again but never did, but I doubt I would see it over and over again or anything.

Hype exists on another level on the internet. n person...I heard like 3 people talk about inception, while I heard like tons of people talking about avatar all the while. I did read articles about backlash about negative reviews for inception, which was ridiculous. I think people should really just go to a movie and watch it for what it is, not about hype..whether it is positive or negative. I think reviewers are just elitist magnified versions of internet fanboys and moviegoers...they are gonna buy into it, or they aren't...and when they don't most often they attack the hype itself and not the actual movie. Don't have to be a ____ing sociologist or a modern pop culture analyst to go see a friggin movie.

So avatar vs inception? Give it a rest. It is what it is...it is what it isn't.

It comes down to taste I guess...but for me to think that avatar is anything but a special effects masterpiece is completely naive. Also to think that inception isn't something a little special when compared to similar action/thriller/suspense/sci-fi movies that have recently been released in recent years is also very naive. Why not appreciate something, even if that obnoxious fool next door does too. At least it has some balls and it feels fresh.

Great post Seditionary.

I especially liked these bits:

...I forgot I was watching a movie and I was entertained til the very end. That's what a movie should be like.

Totally agree. The 2 1/2 hours flew by both times I saw it. That is escapism at it's best.

But the cool thing, and the reason that I love the film so much, is that I kept thinking about it for weeks. In fact I'm still thinking about it. The subtext of the film really means a lot to me personally.

:exactly: I hate it when a movie ( or any other art form) is judged by the type of people or the number of people that enjoy it. I enjoy art for my own reasons. With movies, sometimes I love something mainstream, and sometimes a hate it. Same with indy movies.

lol gave up the fight huh? :yess:

It was never a fight, its just a different opinion. People say Inception is a perfect movie, While that may be to the people who loved it, it just wasnt a life changing experience for me.

Thats because there were no blue fairies. I explained this! :rotfl

Yup that's exactly why. The internet promised a cameo and a sex scene between the blue fairy and dicaprio or however you spell his name.

Spiderman was a metaphor for puberty.
Avatar was a metaphor for interracial couples.
Inception is a metaphor for eating acid, light on the visuals but heavy on the thinking, in exotic and classy places.

Spiderman changed your life? The first one?
Yes when i was younger. I loved the first one. Its what got me into superhero's and i wanted every toy and everything spiderman.

:slap WOW Now I know something is odd about you.

He realized his spiderman costume was too tight in the crotch area. Changed his life forever.

Just becuase Inception didnt dazzle me doesnt mean thier's anything wrong with it. How can you not think spiderman was great as a 5th grader. When i was that age I loved it. And i also love the first Tmnt. I know your not calling me odd with a half naked Wonder women as your signature.

Sorry, I forgot you are still a kid. When Spiderman came out I had just graduated highschool so I really wouldnt know how a 5th grader would have felt.

Nothing is wrong with my avatar. I'm sure the rest of your sig is a half naked dude.
