F-18's formed the backbone of ID4, but there were other aircraft to be seen on screen, Harriers notably along with F-5's and F-16's on the ground. Obviously in a real life scenario like that, F-18c's wouldn't be the first choice.

If Liam Hemsworth didn't resemble Chris so much I'd call for a DNA test. At least we know where 100% of the charisma and screen presence went.
